Jonathan– First off, let me preface by saying that I am no expert on 3D, so don't take anything I have to say as gospel…. Re: Caligari 2….the video is pretty worthless, overall, although there are a few tips that help illuminate the sparse docs. It does, however, show you what the Broadcast version is capable of (and what the consumer version is not…). To be honest, Roman Ormandy of Octree (who was demo'ing at the WOA show) claimed that Caligari2 will soon have most, if not all the features of the Broadcast version. That would include the FULL suite of point editing features, and his interesting method for distorting objects. Re: Texture mapping…I have not played with texture mapping much with either program. It APPEARS that it is easier in Caligari, but not as flexible. Draw 4DPro is by far the easiest…very simple. Re: Imagine…it definitely outputs 24-bit, I think the newest version does DCTV direct (can anyone verify this?). All Amiga programs that output 24-bit renderings usually do so in the IFF-24 format, which translates to mean that Imagine output can be converted to DCTV format by the DCTV softwares, as well as by ADPro and Imagemaster. I would suggest finding one of the Imagine experts around here, or going to the Impulse section in AmigaVendor, and simply asking for a feature list. I have only sat down with the program a few times. 5 megs should allow you to get started with either Imagine, Caligari2 or Draw4DPro. The interface for Imagine is like Sculpt to some degree (it uses a tri-view) although it is much more interactive in its feedback. Both Caligari2 and Draw4DPro allow for more feedback yet… I would have to say that the modeling section in Draw4DPro is excellent, and that it now imports/exports Videoscape format in its latest incarnation. Yes, Imagine 2.0 supports DCTV directly. IMHO, armed with Steve Worley's Imagine manual, it is very learnable. I like true ray-tracing, so I haven't really considered Caligari. Loyd

Loyd, I think it may be time for me to take the Steve Worley/Imagine plunge. Jonathan
