Hi Ron, Ok, now I follow your advice and bought the ASW410, and I can't access any more to my CD : I put in config.sys: device=aspi4dos with parameters asw410 /D:aspicd0 and in autoexec : mscdex /d:aspicd0 /L:G and then if I do "DIR G:" the system hangs! Any more good idea? NB My disk is a MICROPOLIS 1GB, CDROM NEC 83M and card 1542B Pierre

looks like you need the "device=" in front of the driver in your config.sys eq, DEVICE=ASPDISK.SYS /D:ASPICD0

thanks for the advice, but I did it, it seems that the problem came from the version of mscdex so at this time it works with some hangs on multimedia applications… Pierre

Sorry Pierre, I cannot help you out, as I have not installed a CDROM drive on my Adaptec host adapter yet. I was merely passing along information to you that you would need the ASW410 software driver to use a CDROM with your Adaptec board. I am not familiar with it's actual setup. If you still need help you could go over to the IBMHW forum and leave a message for Mike Berhan @ 70303,1111. He works for Adaptec and frequents that forum quite often. Good luck with your installation. – Ron

I work for Sony and use Sony CD-ROM drives with the Adaptec 1541B host adapter every day. I just got on the forum and noticed your correspondence. Still having problems with this? (PC only -MSW or DOS. I don't have any experience with EISA or OS-2.) – Rory
