2: I have a internal CD-RM drive form Compudyne, and I've got
3: MS Beethoven Multimedia. In Windows 3.1 (using MSCDEX 2.21)
4: I can access the CD-ROM in file manager and could install
5: MS Beethoven from the CD, but when I try to start up the
6: application, it responds that it cannot find the CD-drive!?
7: Using the PLAYCD program supplied with the drive I can play
8: the audiotracks, but no matter what I do, I can't start

Hans, just a possibility to check out. I've been unable to access the
CD-ROM when the MSCDEX driver is loaded high in AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Stu, I don't seem to be able to load MSCDEX high(!?) However, I can call my
reference library, and encyclopedia from within Windows fine. Do I need to
install the [MCI] CDAudio driver?

I have been running MSCDEX high with no problem. I did have a problem with
MS Beethoven hanging, this turned out to be that the multimedia extensions
had not updated my Windows 3.0 properly (none of the drivers got
installed). I ditched Windows and reload MM windows from the CDROM and all
was fine.

It seems to me that I'm experiencing a similar problem…MS Beethoven is not
running; just after presentation screen it says that no CD-ROM is available.
All other CD-ROM I have are running great!
Any advice?

I got Beethoven up under 3.0 with the MM Extensions.

I solved my problem simply by installing the [MCI]CD Audio device. Then
everything worked fine. This was suggested by a previous post here, Thanks.

Where did you find the MCI CD-Audio driver? Is this a windows-supplied
driver? what's the procedure? Thanks!!
