#Portable computer

Our company is interested in buying a portable note-book computer to use
with (probably) the NEC CDR 36 for "on-the-road" CD-ROM demonstration. We
have seen the AVG, the Devlonics (now bankrupt and looking for a buyer),
and other attempts to build a combined note-book with a detached (or
semi-integrated) CD-ROM. So far, none are very good for our applications
which simply can't be all that unique. We could use a MAC, a DOS based
system, or a Windows based system. In fact, we could even use an OS2 or
Unix platform.
Any suggestions?

We are using Notebook PC's with an NEC CDR-36 and trantor's mini SCSI
connector.

I currently use an NEC Ultralight III Notebook with an NEC CDR 36 ROM drive
– connected by the Trantor mini scsii through the parallel port. Media
Vision sells a Sound device that hooks externally to the other parallel
port on the Scsi adaptor. This is about your only solution. I also have
the docking station for the NEC which allows me to install a sound card in
the dock. any questions…?

Are there any limitation on the externally connected Media Vision product?

The Pro Audio Spectrum is not really externally connected…it is inside
the dock which the computer is connected to. No..no limitations.

Then you have 100% of the capabilities of the same unit when you buy it to
install in the 16 bit expansion port?

Right…in fact the slot in the dock is a 16 bit slot…it is really a
great set up with no real set backs.
