Ok, enough of the advertisment….
I am just about ready to send in an upgrade for QuarterBack and would
like to here from any users of AmiBack out there or especially folks
that have seen both QBack and ABack in action to help me decide if I
should upgrade QBack or take ABacks upgrade deal???
One thing I do question. In the feature list it says…
# Backs up to a single AmigaDOS file or device
Does that me it does not support backup to more than one floppy drive.
QBack's feature of using both drives speeds of backup since the program
does not have to wait for you to insert a disk…..
Ami-Back will back up to as many floppies as you have. I'll upload a
demo version here probably tomorrow, or maybe later tonight. Dare to
compare.
Take the upgrade deal. I have both and only use QB for the archived
disk sets that people send me, kinda like a big .LZH file. Theres
really no comparison.
After having just received QB5.0, I'll still be using Ami-Back. I
prefer Ami-Back's interface and multiple device backup support (no
ARexx script required). I also back up to tape instead of floppies.
QB5.0 does work well with my tape drive and I do like how it saves
the index and the front and end of each backup. Ami-Back doesn't do
that and the index is stored to a destination of your choice (at
least the version I have does that). I've ordered Ami-Back 2.0 and
have seen the demo. I can't wait for the full version to arrive.
Support from Moonlighter has been superb! New updates can be
downloaded from their BBS too. Actually, I've been pleased with both
Ami-Back and Quarterback. I just prefer Ami-Back.
