#Amiga Coverage
5 messages in this thread
Lee,
I had a subscription to Computer Artist. It comes out 4 times a year.
They have rarely given writen coverage to the Amiga. Occasionally, they
include a lo-res DPaint picture or two in their "gallery" section. I've
written the magazine many times to inquire about this, with no reply.
In their final issue of the year the editor in chief made a comment in
which he said that although they try to cover all the general platforms,
they have to concentrate on the higher end platforms, so, if your platform
has not received coverage it is because it isn't high end. (They generally
lean toward the Macintosh end.)

Louis,
Thats interesting, they contacted us about information, and sence we
are a cross platform developer, maby it is the quality and substance of the
material and not the platform that is of interest to them.
I suspect that if you submitted some 24bit TGA or RGB files on 150Meg
streamer tape their responce might be different?
In any case, more and more professional artist are using several platforms
tied to one another by direct networ software or via fileformat and disk
translation.
The good part about this is there is becoming less and less
difference in the final outputs!
Soon the AMIGA/ATARI will be no different in color or quality than
the most expensive SGI or Sun system.
Lee
Louis,
If they concentrate on the high-end, then why do such publications show
strictly low-end Amiga work on those rare occasions? I, too, have noticed
that depsite all the 24-bit artwork that is being done on devices from
DCTV to FireCracker and Toaster, they always go for the 16/32 color DPaint
artwork?
Seems to me like they are trying to exacerbate any image problems the
Amiga alreay has.. to show Amiga work that _looks_ like the high-end
stuff, they might actually scare away some of their high-end advertisers
with large profit margins and ad budgets.
