Yes it is a version of toaster hardware and software that take advantage
of the AGA chipset. I didn't hear anything about if it can run in PAL.

Propably not (sulk)

Richard,
Thanks for the info. It would be really hot news if they have gone ahead
and produced a PAL version, if not I think that they are giving business
to the OpalVision board.

Laurie,
exceedingly unlikely to be PAL. One of the NewTek guys told me at a show
here in Europe that a PAL version of the Toaster was not simply a matter
of changing a few things, but would require a complete rebuild. Pity,
though, A lot of people in the Audiovisual world in Belgium were very
interested until they saw it was NTSC only.

Peter,
That will disapoint alot of people. I can undestand their problem a bit as
I guess PAL means the hardware would be moving 120% or so more data
around.
However it does then leave the field open to competition to the
likes of the OpalVision board.

Laurie,
I think they are having a heck of a time just keeping up with the NTSC
crowd. In this market, you can't stop for a second. They would have to
have a separate crew just for the PAL machine (EuroToaster???).
I believe that NewTek is having considerable growing pains right now.
A new Toaster project, besides the 4000 Toaster, would just be too much
for them RIGHT NOW.

There's always PAL to NTSC/NTSC – PAL encoders… :^} 'Sides, I sat
through the OpalVision Dewmo at NAB and all it was was OpalPaint – again.
I think the other modules are a long way off yet.
wmc – via Autopilot!
True but that means more $$/cables/compatability/learning curves etc One
plug in package is much nicer for users.
Hmmmm there is an Amiga show in Sydney this July, if they have anything
ready it would probably get displayed there. Perhaps it will be a similar
waiting period that everyone experienced with the Toaster.Perhaps I should
put on me skates and do some $$ investing 🙂

Newtek will have to redesign the Toaster to do PAL. The tricks they use to do
their magic rely on NTSC color encoding. PAL uses a different color encoding
scheme.

Thanks Jerry, I was wondering if there was a technical issue behind it.
Now that I know that I dont feel egrieved against NewTek: they're not
snubbing PAL.
Thanks
