#Null Cable Probs…

I have a little problem. Here's the scenario: I'm redoing my BBS and I want
to see how it looks from the remote end. Instead of bothering other people to
phone up I thought that if I get another computer and hook up my machines via
Null modem cable I should be able to see it on the other computer. Thats where
I have the trouble. I don't know how to "log" on the remote end. Is there
some sort of AT command I'm missing or will this even work???

Yes, a NULL modem is what you need. If your BBS software is looking
for a Carrier Detect before it "reacts" to a user online, then you'll have
to make sure the DTR line is tied to the CD line in the modem cable. This
is usually done by tying lines 6, 8 and 20 together.
An AT command is a modem command…since there's no modem involved,
it'll have no effect.

Ummmm, stupid question but how does one go about tying lines together?

Not to be smart…but if you don't know how to do that…I'd suggest
you get a tech to make up a cable for you.
I'd hate to see things messed up, or even worse…something shorted out
by an improper job.
