I like Superbase for the Amiga. Commodore's developer database was
kept on it when I was there (and probably still is), and its
relational flexibility was good. HOWEVER, I do think it's lacking in
some areas. I found the forms editor hard (clumsy) to use. Also,
the lack of PostScript printer support specifically, and overal
printer support was pretty bad. Anyway, I'm not here to put
Superbase down – it's certainly the most powerful database available
for the Amiga. The PC version of Superbase however, is much better.
Aren't they identical – both v2.0 – except in areas like graphics and
peripheral support?

Hi Paul. I really don't want to get into a big database comparison
discussion, but I believe (having spoken to Precision when they were
doing both versions), that the one thing that was lacking on the
Amiga version was good printer support. I don't know if this has
changed. When I worked with it, all you could do really was work
with Preference supported dot matrix printers in text modes, really
rather primitive. Obviously being able to print professional forms
directly from a database is pretty critical. Anyway once again –
I've no axe to grind – Superbase on the Amiga is definitely a
powerful product.
Oh. That does kind of stink. But SuperBase got good reviews in PC-Mag –
the windows version of course. And I'm sure it would be snappy on a
4000.
It would be so much easier if my boss would dump his clones and get amigas
(and superbase and so on) … so much easier to develope for…

Superbase is now owned bu Oxxi which you will find in the Amigavendors
Forum.
I run Superbase Pro 4 v1.2 on my Amiga 4000 and 1500's. It prints out to
my Deskjet 500 Colour pretty well, but having seen the new version for the
IBM's even the new v2.0 on the Amiga is left well behind.
