#Derringer-Mega Combo
5 messages in this thread
Help. I installed a CSA 68030 Derringer board in my 2000. It works fine. I
would like to install the DKB MegAchip 2 meg chip memory board, but am worried
it may not physically fit underneath the Derringer. Has anyone got this combo
installed in an A2000? Thanks ….. Rick
Rick,
Contact CSA and tell them what you want to do. I've been told by them
that the boards will fit together if you add an additional spacer into the
Derringer stack.

Dean: Thanks for your reply. I'll take your advice and contact CSA,
but if a spacer is involved, I'll have to sacrifice my ICD "AdSpeed"
with the original 68000 cpu. The CSA board with the AdSpeed leaves
absolutely zero clearance. I reckon I'd rather have the additional
chip memory tho…..its rare I use the fall-back non- accelerated
mode. Thanks again for your help.

Rick,
You have a Derringer and an AdSpeed stacked together in the 68000
socket? What ever for??? :*)
Yup, you are going to have to lose something in that setup. I would
suspect the AdSpeed is probably the least used of the bunch.

The AdSpeed at 14 MHz gives just enough speed increase to make working with the
2.1 O/S practical, and it did fit! (just barely) so I used it. There is a lot
of Amiga software that doesn't like either the 68030 or 32 bit memory, so
"fall-back" to an original 68000 cpu is almost essential for me. But you are
right Dean…I find I have to "fall back" less and less as my software gets
renewed. I predict you'll see an ad in the classifiedsfor an "AdSpeed" in the
near future. Regards….Rick
