I have just purchased a Commodore 486 bridgeboard and I am having difficulty setting up the floppy drives. If I use the lead to share df1: with the BB both drives light up and are not accessed by either the BB or Amiga. If I use the lead to use DF1: only as a PC drive the BB still cannot access it. Useing the same lead to connect to a pc drive the same thing. I have tried all combinations of jumpers j515,j501, and j502. The instructions supplied with the BB are for a 386 but the board layout is the same. Can anybody help? Allan – on AutoPilot from Surbiton,Surrey,England

CBM has a 486 bridgeboard? I thought they were only 386sx's …. Are you sure it isn't a hacked BB or a Vortex BB? -Jonathan

On the box it has marked:- Commodore 486SLC 25 Mhz Bridgeboard Code EMU 3925 Board seems to be original. I forgot to say I am running it on a 2000 with no accelorator. My old 2088 bridgeboard ran without any problems. Allan – on AutoPilot from Surbiton,Surrey,England

That is pretty cheap! But from what I am hearing, it can't be a real CBM board, but one of the 'enhanced' BB's…. 'Enhanced' – is that better Dave ??? -Jonathan

It looks it is a 386 board with a 486 instead but the 486 is original (the solder has not been touched) Allan – on AutoPilot from Surbiton,Surrey,England

You can't tell buy looking at it, whether it has been replaced or not….thei is NO WAY of telling with surface mount. Along the top of the 100pin connector their is silk screen, what does it say? Dave Elite MicroComputers – Flying high on AutoPilot

Allen, are you SURE this board is a 486? We are the ORIGINAL 486SLC bridgeboard maker. Either commodore owes me some money, or someone is counterfeting my upgrade. Yes it definately a 486. The package came with a Texas Instruments 486SLC and 486DLC software installation disk. the code number on the box is EMU 3925. How would I recognise one of your upgrades? The label on the box looks likes a Commodore label. I purchased it from:- White Knight Technology UK phone number 0992 714539 We are on BST which is GMT +1. When I ordered it from them they said it only just become available. Any thoughts on the problem I am having? Leave a message via Email if you want any more details. Our boards our 33MHz…it's not our upgrade if it's 25MHz. Does it include an addendum to the manual? Does this state a C= 486 board? Dave Elite MicroComputers – Flying high on AutoPilot

There is no addendum to the manual. On label on box ;- Commodore 486SLC 25Mhz Bridgeboard I've checked the pcb around the 486 and it has not been replaced. As I work with pcb's all the time I can tell when something has been changed. Allan – on AutoPilot from Surbiton,Surrey,England

That is bad….hope your not putting it in a4000…it WILL crash due to heat. Who ever is putting these out is doing a sloppy job, even vortex has a heat sink. It's not adquite, but at last it helps. Dave Elite MicroComputers – Flying high on AutoPilot

Dave, the vortex 486 boards have fans! Besides, vortex dropped the price for the 486 bridgeboard to 1198 DM, thats around 750 $. Juergen (via Autopilot… from Germany)

Basicly what our 486 board is, is a C= 386 board with a 486SLC CPU. We use a Cyrix 486SLC 33MHz CPU, to obtain near i486SX 33 performance. We get a landmark rating of 103. (486SX/DX 33 gets 110) Our board uses all the standard 386 bridgeboard software, so anything the commodore 386 can do, we can do FASTER!….much faster about 3 times the speed. Sorry Dave.. I didn't mean to degrade your product. To me a 'hack' is something that was modified/changed, etc… A hack, many times is a GREAT thing, especially in the case of your modified CBM bridgeboard. So, what do you know of CBM selling 486 BB's overseas??? -Jonathan

I offer an upgrade for the 386 BRIDGEBOARD…and market the complete unit as a 486SLC BRIDGEBOARD. 486SLC Bridgeboard, then refers to a 386 Bridgeboard with EMC's 486 enhancment. Dave Elite MicroComputers – Flying high on AutoPilot
