In order to use the EVO-9650 with the Toaster you only need to enter 2
commands in the Record section of LightWave (I am pretty sure). You will
be able to record the anim to tape but that is all you can do.
The $99 program they speak of will let you control ALL (or almost all) the
funtions of the VTR from the computer. You will then be able to do things
like digitize a section of video completely automated using the Toaster.
Another program that will also work with the EVO-9650 is Transporter,
which has LOTS of features and is used by people like Joe Conti, Allen
Hastings, ect…With it you can also record anims from any other program
that doesn't directly support SF-VTRs.

Actually Joe doesn't use Transporter anymore. We are currently using the
Personal Single Frame controller without any problems. It's a great
little program.

Pity, I know Leo Martin the author of Transporter and he has worked really
hard to have a working solution.
I can't wait to see what you guys are going to come up with for
Sea Quest.

Thanks. The EVO-9650 sounds pretty appealing, and now with the advent of
the Toaster for the 4000 – makes me think it's time to unload the 2000.
Gotta work up some figures today and see if it might be possible. I don't
think it'd be a good idea though to spend the EVO money on a new
computer/Toaster (A4000). But again, I wonder what the extent of the
A4000/Toaster's animation features are. Wether I'd be able to get away
with recording the anim straight out the 4000's port instead of single
framing it.
With everything changing so dramatically it's getting hard to tell which
is the best way to go – single framing or recording on the fly.

Rodney,
Take a good close count of slots before you unload anything. The Toaster
covers Video, tow zorro and one PC/AT slot in the A4000, I've been told.
SO that only leaves two slots to play with.

Really? You mean to tell me that when they "redesigned" the Toaster to fit
in a 4000, they made it so it BLOCKED SLOTS- geez
I don't think it was re-designed. I believe the same hardware just has
some chip upgrades. But remember. I didn't see the Toaster 4000 with the
cover off. I'm goging gby what the AmigaMan dealer told me.

Atleast some of the inputs are moveable for easy instalation into A3000
or A4000. Wonder if the same condition of slot starvation exsists on
present A3000 systems?

Dunno.. I called NT sales and spoke to Bob who said he would look into the
slot thing and call me back. I'll probably give him a call back in a day
or two.

It's not quite the same in a 3000 because the vide slot in a 3000 is on
the top, while it is on the bottom in a 4000.
