#Best Day for NAB?
27 messages in this thread
Dear NewTek:
If I was only able to go to one of the 4 days of NAB,
which day would be the best to go?
Thanks, an avid Toaster User,
Erik Flom
On Tuesday, ASDG will host motion picture and television star Dean Stockwell.
Dean, who plays “Al'' on Quantum Leap, will be available Tuesday afternoon for
pictures and autographs.
This will happen at ASDG's booth MM119 – note that ASDG has a second booth as
part of the Toaster Pavillion at which T-Rexx Professional 2 will be premiered.
Thanks, though I was looking for something more substantial than
'autographs of my favorite morphed characters'. :^)
I'm trying to decide whether it's worth $200 & a lost day of production to
fly in to see NAB for a day. A couple of autographs wouldn't make it worth
it. . .
Thanks anyway,
Erik Flom
ERIC !!!!!!
Don't forget the Game Arcade. . . .
Any day will be fine. Not much changes, except the tolerance of the booth
people. Towards the end, they can get fiesty.
I'll be there Sunday nite thru Wednesday afternoon. If you go, keep a look out
for me.
Don't worry, the arcade is a very high priority. (I sent off a very rough
preliminary tape to them on Friday – they should have it by Monday.)
(Though, they STILL have as yet to formally approve the bid . . .)
I have to admit that the project has taken a back seat in the last few
days . . .I got a call from the publishers of one of these Amiga rags, and
they want one of my images for use as a cover! Yow!
I'll be gettin' back on the arcad ASAP.

P.S. I doubt I'll make NAB this year. :^(
Grab TWO copies of any cool literature you see for the Toaster, please!
Thanks! :^)
Does that mean that my copy of T-REXX Pro won't be back ordered anymore?
–Paul < Motorola Inside >
Correct – T-Rexx has now passed our QA and is entering production.
When can I expect delivery? It sounds most impressive.
–Paul < Motorola Inside >
Erik, I would recommend going on Monday.
JG
Thanks, though I have decided I am too busy to take the time off.
(A nice change!)
So, does this mean I could call NewTek sales after Monday and get the same
info?

Probably not. But you never know. I too am too busy to go to NAB this
year although I really wanted to.
JG
Some of the intial rumors sound VERY interesting . . .
The Toaster-4000?!?!?

P.S. You wouldn't be in the market for a nice humpbacked whale would you?
:^)
Ooh. just a tad too late. we built one last week. (Still waiting for
your demo reel :))
JG
I'll be sending it Real Soon Now. Been busy & finally got the final copy
of my rate card printed.
You're on my list. Thanks for asking!

There's a nice segment of a Submarine on Erik's tape. I liked it quite
well and plan to try to duplicate it since I have a nice Los Angeles class
Sub model for Imagine to Play with. Plus I REALLY want to experiment with
WATER.
I have that same sub! Worked great on LightWave when I through the Water
surface onto it and simply placed a blue backdrop behind it. I'm not too
big on the red along the bottom portion of the hull, but it too reacted
well to the water surface. I think it took about a minute and some odd
seconds to render the one frame – I seriously think I need the A4000 – now
the monitor, that might be a problem …..I think those suckers are around
7-800 bucks! I could be wrong, this is what a friend told me.
You ever wonder what would happen if someone sold an Amiga Compatible???

I want a A4000/Toaster too. Just wish it was also a Food Replicator. I'd
buy it in a Hot Second then hehehehehehehe Current Finances Prohibit the
$4600 or so the A4000 and Toaster would cost me.
Tho it could all be moot if I didn't HATE to take Loans from my Credit
Union, They LOVE to give their members Loans since they have Automatic
Deduction so no worries of Late Payments or missed Payments unless the
Employee gets UNEMPLOYED of course. Maybe in about a year I'll go Bonkers
and Get a Whole Shebang. Till then I continue My Begging of time on
Assosciates Toasters.
Well, You could have one fairly reasonably – I pretty much decided I'd
sell mine. I put an add in classified for my system. I think Commodore's
ready to can the 2000's just as it had the 500's. At least that'd tide
you over until the New Toaster and 4000 are out.
I think this is the better way, as I'll get what little I can out of it,
buy a cheap 500 and wait till they get done obsoleting all their machines
before they decide to settle on one. I can't believe what I'm hearing
about an A5000 now !! This is ridiculous.
From what I hear about Nab, Newtek sounds like their getting a little
shaky about the Opalvision.
I think I'll sit this one out – and join in after the dust settles.

Giving up on your Toaster already?? Come on…….
….John
I don't think Opalvision will really Give Newtek too many Worries since at
the Projected Prices on the Modules, Opalvision will cost you considerably
MORE than a Toaster. This is of course my opinion and as such has no basis
in fact. Also the Toaster is Here NOW and has been for quite some time.
The Opalvision is a Great 24 bit frame Buffer and Paintbox but till we
actually SEE the Roaster chip etc it's a dead end for Comparison against
the Toaster.
Totally off topic Question here. Is Joe Conti working on the Seaquest
Project? Thanx for the info John.
Yes,
Joe is in charge of the CGI department.

Very Nice, I just read that the Lass that did some FX for a recent Music
Awards Show is also on the Seaquest Team. Her name escapes me at the
moment tho. It was in New Media, Which I gavce away so I can't check her
name. Blast. I think she did the Musical Instrument Anims etc for the
American Music Awards.
I think her first name was Paula. I think there was something VTU about
her.
Steve
Yes. Her name is Jennifer McKnew.
JG
Thats the Lady, Jennifer McKnew. Thanx for Jogging the Grey Matter John.
