#Pioneer Access on 2-6?

I just set up a PIONEER DRM-660-A that works flawlessly when accessing
the top slot in the changer. I am unable to access slots 2-6. The way I
understand this to work is drive D: will be slot 1, E: will be 2, etc. If I
change to the E: prompt and do a directory of E:, I still ge t the
directory listing of the CD in the D:(1) position. When the IBM PS2/30
boots it shows a listing of the changer slots 0-5 being mapped to the dos
drives D:-I:. Is there something missing here to access the remaining slots
2-6(1-5)? I am using the /N:6 switch for the device drive in the
CONFIG.SYS. Any information you might provide would be quite helpful.

I assume you used the /C:CDP switch when loading the CD device driver.
Try this: at the DOS prompt, type "echo 6zs > CDP" which should load the
6th disc. This will confirm the change mechanism works.
Next, try "dir E:" to see if DOS recognizes the drive. It should change
automagically to the second disc and pull a dir.
Other possibilities: if you are using an ASPI device driver, add the /L
parameter to the line which loads the ASPI driver. I use an UltraStor 24F,
and the following are my load parameters:
[config.sys] DEVICE=C:\util\ULTRA\USPI24.SYS /L
DEVICE=C:\UTIL\ULTRA\DRD60ASP.SYS /D:MSCD0001 /N:6 /S:5 /C:CDP
[autoexec.bat] C:\util\ULTRA\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD0001 /E
I am using the Pioneer DRM-604X (new model) but your parameters should be
roughly the same for an ASPI setup. What SCSI board do you use?

Thanks for the information. I found out why I couldn't access the rest of
the slots. This is something I wouldn't have tried in a milion years. The
fix is to remove the SCSI adapter BIOS chip. The card is a Future Domain. A
second problem I have is not being able to run Toolworks Multimedia
Encyclopedia. The error is disk not found, (although the other five
slots/disks work perfectly). I spoke with Toolworks and they suggested I
use STW-cmsd001 instead of just STW to start the encyclopedia or use the F3
key to continue. I just can't get over it just pull the chip off the board
and leave an empty socket, huh!?
