#FCII Release 2 – problem

Ric, I've come across another problem with Final Copy II, release 2. For some reason, whenever I try to load a file I created with the FCII release one, the program can't find the fonts. When I look in the PSFonts drawer, the same fonts are there. I haven't tried to save then load anything I created with release two yet. Am I going to run into the same problem? Did I get bad disks? Bob, I had the same problem switching from FC1 to FCII. Simply reset the font paths and save the document. They will be fine after this. I never figured out why this happened, just know it was easy to fix it…. Gary Vander Mei

Thanks Gary!!! I'll give it a try. Have you had problems changing and then saving the screen colors? When I do that and go back in later, they colors get all mixed up. Bob Kuzmeski

Bob, When I installed FCII-R2, I had to reset everything. Though I only set my colors once. I have my program set to four color. I would'nt try it any other way. My setup is; Four Color, Interlaced, Open New Screen. When you try eight color set-ups, you have to wrestle with an eight color workbench. If you don't set the eight colors up correctly in preferences, than you get weird things like a yellow cursor (can't live with that)…. Gary Vander Mei

Gary, I have my screen set to 4 colors, non-interlaced, Open New Screen. When I change the highlight and background colors, save them, and then open the software again, the colors get all confused! I've reinstalled it three times but to no avail. Bob Kuzmeski

Bob, Without seeing your system set-up, it sounds like you are having a conflict with your operating software. What version of the OS are you using? (i.e. 1.3,2.0,2.1)

Gary, I'm running WorkBench 1.3 on an Amiga 500 w/ 2 megs of chip ram and 1/2 meg of fast ram. Bob

Bob, I stopped using WB 1.3 when I received my first A3000 (purged it from the hard drive and everything else). I can't tell you for sure, though I would take a chance on saying that your problem lies with this. You have two megs of chip ram, good start. I personally would suggest taking the plunge and getting WB 2.1. Another two megs of fast ram would'nt hurt either. Your gains would be a much better operating system. Not to mention compatibility with more software and future expansion capabilitys. If you don't feel this is the proper route, try turning your problem over to Ric Fischer at Softwood on this Forum. Gary, I tried to upgrade to 2.1 but my dealer could not get it to work. I also did turn this problem over to Ric at Softwood. He was the first person I asked and it's been over a week with no answer from him. Bob K.

I read the advice to go 2.1 and erase 1.3 Dos. I agree with that but you should not erase 1.3 until you get the "Voice" files like Speak copied to the 2.1 system. They left it out of 2.1 Tom, Oklahoma City
