#game trashed drive
3 messages in this thread
Michael,
I just had a long day reformating my hard drive after downloading
CHINAC.LZH (games library) and trying to run the program. When I tried to
run the program from ram: by clicking on the icon I got the message that
couldn't find a "tool". The "tool" was IconX misspelled, so I changed the
tool to c:IconX using the information function on workbench. The game
didn't run but my system froze and on reboot I got the message that
preferences couldn't be found. Well I copied prefs form my 2.0 disk to my
hard drive and then things really got interesting. I had directory opus
and flipper (the bridge board program) iconified at the time of the
freeze. I realize that I may have compounded the problem by my efforts to
salvage the hard drive and that the whole problem may have been particular
to my system but I felt I should give a "heads up". Anyway I learned a lot
today!

David,
I have no idea what you did but China Challenge runs fine on my 3000 and
my 4000. And, IconX was not misspelled, it wants the program Xicon.
Since I don't have Xicon I ran the China Challenge from the shell.

Ouch!
By any chance was the 'mispelled IconX' Xicon?
They are two _different_ tools.
