Eduard, I downloaded SoftwareFPU 2.41 and it doen't work with POV 1.0. POV starts to render and when it comes to a pixel with color it locks up. Do you know how to compile POV for a nonFPU Mac? I haven't compiled anything before. I read an article in MacUser that said the Centris 610 without an FPU is about as fast as a IIci with an FPU on applications that can use the FPU. On applications that don't require an FPU it is twice as fast as the IIci. Thanks for your help, Britt Percival There are 2 Replies. Read action !

Britt, > when it comes to a pixel with color it locks up. Have you tried with more than one scene file? This sounds more like a problem with the particular scene than with the copro emulator. There is 1 Reply. Read action !

Dan, > Have you tried with more than one scene file? Yes, I have tried four different scenes. It renders until it comes to a colored pixel and that's it. The computer locks up and I have to restart it:( Britt Read action !

Hi Britt, Hopefully we'll hear from Drew about your beta status. Yes, it is easy for me to recompile POV-Ray so as not to require an FPU. But I wouldn't want to post it on a public CIS forum area, because others would download it and get confused by its slower performance, and give it to friends. I'd prefer not to e-mail it to you, because it is big and expensive to send and receive. So hopefully Drew can provide you with a useful alternative. And now I turn you over to… drum roll… Drew Wells! [esp] There is 1 Reply. Read action !

Eduard, Thank you for the reply. I understand that you don't want to upload POV without an FPU. If Drew Wells doesn't want me to try the 2.0 beta, would there be a chance that I could send you a disk in the mail with a self addressed stamped envelope to get a copy of a non-FPU POV? If that would be alright you could E-mail me your address instead of having it posted in a message. Thanks, Britt Percival Read action !
