#CDRom on Parallel Port

I would like to connect my external Toshiba SCSI cd rom to the parallel port on my laptop. I use IOMEGA's parallel-to-SCSI adapter for my Bernoulli disk. I think it should probably do the trick, except I need a driver for the cd rom that understands it. Thanks in advance. Mike

You probably need to contact IOMEGA and see if they have a driver for the CD-ROM drive. You might also ask them if they license the parallel to SCSI adapter from some other company. If they do you can probably get a driver from that company. Trantor Systems also makes scsi to parallel cables, scsi cards and have quite a few drivers.

The IOMEGA parallel adapter will work only with IOMEGA Bernoulli drives. You can, however, get a Trantor T348 MiniSCSI Plus that will work with both the Bernoulli drive and your SCSI CD-ROM. It retails for $229, including software. You can reach Trantor Sales dept at 1-800 TRANTOR or 510-770-1400

Hi, Actually, IOMEGA directed me to you on this question, and I will be getting a T348. I do have a request, though, can you make a version of your driver to work with IOMEGA formatted Bernoullis? Thanks. Mike

Michael…Just FYI, I bought a T348 a couple of months ago and it is a fantastic product. It comes with drivers for both my CD drive (NEC SCSI) and my SCSI hard drive. As Jerry Pournelle says, "Recommended". Be seeing you. -Larry
