#Uploads

Don, Steve, or whoever picks up on this…
I just completed uploading the new Shell program and the ASDG recoverable ram
disk driver. I put "csh205.arc" in DL9. Since DL9 then appeared to be out of
space, I put the rest in DL1 until you get time to move them back to DL9 or
wherever they belong. In particular, "csh205.doc" should be moved to the same
dl (dl9?) as csh205.arc.
Now, as to the ASDG product. I uploaded it in two parts: "asdgvd.arc", and
"asdgut.arc". "asdgvd.arc" contains the Recoverable Ram Disk itself along with
some documentation and a "Mountlist" file. "asdgut.arc" contains several nifty
utilities that are used with the device driver and also a real-time "system
monitor" program. Before making them public, you may want to download them and
read the disclaimer file that was provided for each file…ASDG states very
clearly that these are *NOT* public domain utilities and that they retain all
copyrights. Perry Kivolowitz specifically asked someone to upload them to
Compuserve so I am sure that it is ok with him for them to be here…but you
might want to read the disclaimer and be sure it doesn't conflict with any of
CIS's policies. You also might want to give them a try…I already had the
stuff up and running as shipped with my ASDG ram card and haven't tried out
these particular versions. I've talked to folks who *did* download these
programs from Usenet and are running them successfully… but my copies have
never been executed. If you have a problem doing the test, and don't want to
risk making them public until they've been tested, let me know and I'll go
ahead and replace the stuff I already have running.

Rick,
Ok, I'll take a look at them and get back to you.
Don
Don,
I just finished re-uploading asdgut.arc and asdgvd.arc into DL1 (DL9 still
says it's full!). Hope these are cleaner.
Rick Schaeffer
Rick,
Ok, thanks…I'll check them out later and let you know.
Don
Rick, Mine (from UseNet seems to run fine, but since my current external ram
does not autoconfigure, I have not been able to make it recover after a boot.
Regards, Larry.
Rick,
I checked out the files, ASDGVD.ARC has a bad MOUNTLIST in the archive
and ASDGUT.ARC has a bad sysmon in the archive. Can you check your files and
if yours are ok, re-upload. If not, can you try to get those 2 files and
upload. I've moved your present uploads into a holding area until they can be
replaced or fixed. No problem with the disclaimer. The other 2 files were
fine and I'll make them public later on.
Don
I'll check them out, Don and re-upload tonite. I noticed some funny stuff
going on during the uploads last night…like it went into some sort of
"auto-boogie" mode. Started getting a solid transmit light with occasional
blinks of the receive light. Yet, the upload seemed to complete normally (at
least, vt100 v2.4 didn't complain!).

Rick,
It sounds like they got out of sync as far as ACK/NAK goes (which
sometimes happens) and the upload goes non-stop…on occasion the file is still
ok, but more often than not, a "runaway" upload is bad.
