#Texel DM-3024

Bill,
Thanks for your help. I'll definately stay away from Dirt Cheap. I have a
feeling that we will be purchasing the Texel, given what everyone has said
on this forum. I still need to get the PC Magazine reviews, and I'll check
out the HDI ad while I'm at it. What exactly was the Texel bundled with,
and how much did you end of paying for it?
BTW, I am in Portland, OR. I can't think of how you'd know me, but I have
floated into and out of this forum on numerous occasions….
Thanks again for your help.

I bought my Texel from DC Drives and had no trouble whatsoever. Service
was fine; the kit was complete; and the product was shipped quickly. I
wouldn't be quite so hasty to remove them from your list.
Regards, Jerry
P.S. I am *not* a stockholder!
Angela,
Keep in mind when you read the PC mag reviews that they said it was a
'close call' between the Texel and NEC for Editor's Choice. The only
negative aspects that they found on the Texel were either incorrect or have
been fixed (for example, it *does* ship with an app to allow you to play
audio CD's). It's faster than the NEC and *really* has Photo CD support
(the NEC has problems even with single-session). To me, that makes it
Editor's Choice hands down, and it's a lot cheaper than the NEC.
I bought the Texel and Future Domain SCSI card from Hard Drives
International (they have ads in PC Magazine, etc) for $519. I negotiated a
special deal with them, it was $30 off (reg $549). If you call them and ask
for Rick Hartley at x421 and mention my name you can get the deal, but will
pay $549 otherwise. Their support is really good, even Saturday hours, when
you don't usually even get support from the mail order house that sold you
your goods, you normally have to call the manufacturer. I also bought the
Pro Audio Spectrum 16 sound card from them for $209 as part of the package,
and they threw in all cables and connectors and some free CD's.
Happy Hunting, let me know how you make out….

I recently purchased the DM-3024 drive, and am very happy with it. The
installation was a breeze, but I don't think I got the program necessary to
listen to an AUDIO cd.
My driver software is TSLCDR.sys ver 1.46.
Is you driver a later version?
What is the name of this program that allows you to listen to an AUDIO cd?
Thanks,
