#Price of "Montage" ?
8 messages in this thread
Two or more months ago I received a brochure from InnoVision announcing their
new "MONTAGE" program for the Toaster.
The LIST price was stated to be $499.95. However, as a concession to owners of
their previous "Broadcast Titler" the price to that select few would be a
reduction to $379.95.
On the basis of the good performance of InnoVision software, I gave that
company a firm order – at the price of $379.95
Two days ago I received in the mail a brochure from an outfit called DevWare of
Poway, CA. On the front page they were offering to everybody the "Montage"
program at a price of $299.00 (Availasble in April).
WHAT GIVES ????? It would seem that if I cancel my order to InnoVision and
re-order from DevWare, I will SAVE $$$$.
Regards to all…….. HILARY.
Hillary,
Just spoke to Tom Patrick of Innovision about the Devware offer, as far as he
knows it's legit. He indicated that Devware won't be making much money at that
price and he intended to call them regarding their ad to verify it's
authenticity. If I were you, I would offer Innovision the oppourtunity to match
DevWare's offer before cancelling. You also might check to see if DevWare will
be receiving shipments at the same time direct orders are being delivered. It's
entirely possible that DevWare won't have product in sufficient quantities to
ship your order in a timely fashion. For those who are willing to wait, prices
are always better after the initial feeding frenzy.
Regards
Frank
I FAX'ed the info' re the lower price to Patrick at InnoVision. He told me that
they did not – of course – have any control what vendors charge for software.
However he was interested and asked me to FAX him a copy of the DevWare flyer
catalog, which of course I did.
My order with InnoVision is still there – and I am still waiting for them to
ship. I like that outfit and respect the good work they did with Broadcast
Titler. I am faced with one or two clients who want Montage used in their
products…. so I have little choice.
I do think that it would be wise for the InnoVision folk to reduce their
"special" price for registered BP users, closer to the $299.00 made by DevWare.
Folk may get the idea that InnoVision care more about profit than program.
All the best, HILARY.
Hilary, I spoke to inovision today. they told me that they will be shipping in
2-3 weeks. that's what i was told 3 weeks ago. something is holding it up. I
don't mind paying the higher price tag if i can have the product directly upon
release prior to mail order houses, i expected that the price will be lower
from mail order, BUT I WANTED IT FAST. I hope that it will still hapen. I will
be ticked off if i will be able to buy it from mail order at lower price, but
will still be waiting for shipment from inovision. Then I belive i will deserve
a match price from them. let's hope for the best. george
Think that many of us interested in "Montage" think as you do George.
Will try and be patient! HILARY.
I think they call that a "loss leader". DevWare's price reflects a discount of
60 percent of the retail price.
Look on the bright side – for many packages, the discount could be deeper. For
a typical $100 retail price product, dealers are buying it for $60, and
distributors for $40. If someone (like DevWare) can convince the publisher that
they'll buy in enough quantity to qualify as a distributor, then the next
DevWare catalog might contain a price closer to $200.
Nice to hear from you again John.
I did not want to stir up problems and trouble – but wanted the InnoVision folk
to know that no doubt questions would be raised. My personal order with them is
still firm, as I both like what they produce and its quality….. being one of
their first BT users.
I wish like Hell they would get the damn thing out however. Have two
documentaries were our client (having seen the Montage ads') wants us to use
the program.
All the best John, HILARY
Hi Frank, I wonder, since the signal is promised to be better through the
montage, would it also be beneficial to have the toaster update for the 2000?
From what i'm hearing it claims to have an improved signal also. Then again the
montage may not be comatible with the toaster update. any comments? george
