Problem: I installed an NEC CDR74-1 CDROM player to a PS/2 Model 60 in which I had installed an Adaptec SCSI MCA Adaptor card. The system won't run and it would seem that I need the NEC driver for the Adaptec card. In Australia NEC don't supply drivers with their CDROM drives, only with their own Adapter cards(Which they can't supply at present). Is there anywhere in CIS that I can download the NEC driver? The Manual describes the driver NECCD.SYS. I have MSCDEX.EXE. Help a frustrated Aussie someone please. Bill, Queensland, Australia

I am using MSCDEX on a machine with an adaptec 154x and it works fine. I have the EZ-SCSI package that comes with the Adaptec. This is an ISA machine. Larry

Thanks Larry, Trouble is Adaptec don't provide peripheral drivers in Australia, only operating system drivers. I have been told by my dealer now that the required driver can be obtained for an extra $110.00. This is turning out to be an expensive exercise…typical MCA! I have good old Sound Blaster Pro V2 in my other system and it came complete with Card, CDROM, and all software required…and it worked straight off….This is an ISA machine too. Bill
