Does anyone have reliable information on hard-disk transfer speeds required for CD Recorders? Some time ago I heard a figure of about 300K per sec., but a thread I read last week says 1 MB / sec. I notice that fast SCSI-2 hard disks in the 1 GIG range put out from 2 to 4 MB per sec., depending on whether they are asynchronous (the default, I gather) or synchronous. The CDR I have in mind is the Phillips CDD-521, which is a doublespeed, though possibly also the Pinnacle, which is a singlespeed.

>Does anyone have reliable information on hard-disk transfer speeds required for CD Recorders? Terry, I am fairly certain that the Pinnacle Micro RCD drive requires a hard disk transfer speed of 1 MB/sec. You can reach them at 1 800 553-7070 and speak to someone in technical support to confirm. Philips tel. # is 1 615 475 8869. If you know of anyone who has had experience with either drive, I would appreciate your letting me know. I am considering buying the PM RCD and want to communicate with someone who has used it. >>Brad<<
