Hi there, i am considering buying the latest model of the cdrom player from
Toshiba, what i will need is the external model can u please someone who has
already purchased thsi model provide me with the following infromation
1. what is the external model called? 2. does it provides support for
international voltage? 3. My computer is an 386/33mhz ISA machine with 2 mfm
drives
what interface options do i have for connecting the toshiba 4. Does corel
scsi drive software support this drive 5. I have an SB16 card installed on my
pc. what cables do i need
for connecting the audio of the 3401

I want to buy a Toshiba 3401 CD-ROM drive and I have found some of the
information you are asking about.
1. The external model is TXM-3401E. 2. The power requirements are AC 115v-230v.
Power frequency is not stated, but you could check with Toshiba. Their US
address is:

Irvine, CA 92718 3. I am looking at an Adaptec 1542C SCSI adapter. 4. I just
received word that the 3401 is approved by Corel for use with CorelSCSI. 5. I
can't help you with the audio hookup, but someone here will, I'm sure.

I can answer some of your questions: 1. The external version is the XM3401E1.
Be careful…some dealers sell the internal version in their own enclosure. 2.
I don't know if it provides support for international voltage. Ask your local
Toshiba office; they should know. 3. You can purchase the drive with an
interface card, cables, sample MPC disk and software drivers for an additional
$100. 4. Corel is testing their software with this drive, but they have not
certified it yet. You can check on the COREL forum here on CI$. 5. I have an
SB16ASP board, and it came with a cable. Simply plug the L/R into the Toshiba
and the other plug into the SB16. It couldn't be easier! I can tell you they
work well together!
