Sorry Adrian….you are asking the wrong person. My only experience with genealogy programs is AFT.lha. It looks like an excellent program except that I am presently having trouble with it using a 68030 accelerator. I am in contact with the programs's author Andrew Hounsell re: this problem, but it works fine in 68000 mode and with Andrew's GVP 68030 card. Why don't you download it and see what it does with a 68040 A4000? I have no experience with A-GENE….sorry. Rick

I'm not Rick, but here are the genealogy programs I know about for the Amiga: A-GENE, which you know. I've only seen a demo of this one, and found it lacking in lots of ways. ORIGINS – a commercial program from The Puzzle Factory. This one had GEDCOM and uses AREXX to permit documentation of the various items of information. It makes all the standard reports, and is easy to use. There are things about it that do not suit my own preferences, and it uses a good bit of space for things that do not fit my own database, but it is a good, dependable program that does not crash and that does what it claims to do. It also supports both text and picture files. YOUR FAMILY TREE – a commercial program, available in most Amiga stores. This one makes lots of reports and is colorful and easy to use. The last version I tried did not have GEDCOM and did not provide for documentation of evidence. It does provide for text files and picture files. NORGEN – another commercial program. This one was awfully easy to enter data, but it crashed constantly on my machine, had no GEDCOM facility, did not allow for individual documentation. It did allow unlimited text files and picture files. AFT – freeware at this time. This program, which Rick is using, is well-supported here on CIS by its author, Andrew Hounsell. I really feel that it is the best of the lot. Andrew has added documentation in his latest release, and has always supported GEDCOM. The program is easy to use, supports text files and picture files, and is just very nice to use. —Betty
