Hey Rick
I think most of us have went thru this. I think it has somthing to do
with the VESA driver…but this work-around is so easy why worry about it.
Glad to be of help Ralph
I worked just as you said. Unless there are "side-effects" I'm not seeing,
this is just the ticket. This works so well Autodesk should send out a
informational flyer to all registered users to inform them of this bug and it's
work-around. I'm sure there are other frustrated users out there who'd like to
know about this. Thanks again!! – (BTW- Know of any other "tricks" we should
be aware of?)

There are no side effects I know of Rick. This is just one of those things I
picked up from somewhere/someone. I owe alot to friends/users groups/and this
forum (and my wife for putting up with all the time I devote to this!) <G>

When you think about all the different hardware/configurations out there it's a
wonder programs run as smoothly as they do. With programs as intense as 3D
Studio and Ani Pro… programming for this must be a nightmare! I salute
Autodesk for there diligence… and this forum. As for the thanks…
… the pleasure is all mine, I'm glad I could help.

in this forum… the info picked up here is invaluable.

Ralph,
I musta missed your revelation here — sorry. Could I get it again?
(Particularly since Autodesk ought to be mailing a flyer with this info!!)
Thanks.

Hi Nik
You are probably aware of the problem that some of us have when making a
preview. The preview makes and plays correctly but when you want to quit the
preview and return to the keyframmer the screen seems to lock-up. At first it
seems as though you must reboot, which is a BIG problem if you havn't saved
your work to that point.
It really is some kind of mode lock-up of the VGA card…pressing "F5" to reset
the card to the 320 200 mode of the materials editor seems to clear it up.
Actually I've gotten acustommed to a quick "F5" and mouse move and click to the
top right. This will get you back to the keyframmer without even seeing the
materials editor. Also "F10" and "Y" will get you to DOS and "EXIT" will get
you back.
Rick and I have ATI VGA wonder cards but I have heard of this problem with
other cards also.
Thanks for your concern Ralph
Thanks Ralph.
I'll make a note of it as a suggestion for the other Product Supporters, and
see if this is something that can be regarded as a bug and therefore get fixed.
Reboots always jeopardize data, and as such Autodesk QA is very concerned.
Nik
P.S. Should the flyer with this tip be in color? Glossy? <g>

Appreciate it Nik, although I've been using the work around for so long I'll
probably continue out of habit <G>.

hahahahahaha …and in all languages! <bg>
