Hello! I am trying to record to video tape from 3D Studio using a video
controller card and SOFTVTR. The problem seems to be that when I tell it to
record, it doesn't put up the images before telling the VCR to record them. It
seems to be related to the question 'Will your RCPADI render to a separate
screen?' For this Video controller, you must answer 'N', then it seems to
require a spacebar press to bring up the graphics each frame. Is there a way to
have 3D Studio automatically put the images on screen while using a single
screen setup without having to hit a keypress. I know it puts them up when you
answer 'Y' to the seperate screen question but with garbage on the screen. Any
help would be GREATLY appreciated… -Later
RCPADI devices are ALWAYS single-screen. What kind of video card are you
using, and what version of 3D Studio is it? It sounds like you need one of the
SoftVTR experts from the forum to help you out. (I'm the farthest thing in the
world from a hardware expert.)

To save time I'm guessing that your problem is similar to the classic RCdriver
problem with Diaquest and targa. Try rendering to RDpadi with the appropriate
RD*.exp driver. Reconfigure your 3DADI.cfg and see if the frames load into
your frame buffer for recording. I'm just guessing now since your the first
I've heard with the classic symptoms using softVTR. The above is how many
resolved the problem with Diaquest and targa+. Good luck. Let us know how you
