Ian, I'm no expert but you may need a PAL monitor to get it to display
correctly on. Or OTOH you may end up having to scroll down to "see" the
balance of the PAL screen on your NTSC monitor.

I have been able to get PAL to work with my old kickstarts (1.2 and 1.3), it
the 2.04 kickstart that's confusing things. Maybe an updated Degrader or
bootswitch. I have a 1084S, with will autoselect between 50/60Hz, so there is
no problem there. Ah, well,… I keep trying.

Try this, Ref in the WB2 manual 4-7 AddMonitor to 4-10 Bindmonitor. I
think you need to have the PAL monitor Icon in the Monitors Drawer on your
system disc..eg DH0: if you have a hard drive. You have to drag the Pal
icon from the MonitorStore drawer to the Monitors drawer and then dble
click on the copy there to activate the AddMonitor programme which sets up
your system so it "knows" that your particular monitor can handle both Pal
and NTSC.
I was reminded of this in relation to similar problems people were having
in getting their A4000's set-up to display properly.
