MegageM announces AmiVR Virtual Reality products for all Amigas!
AmiVR gives you a stereoscopic 3D viewing system for Amiga AND video! AmiVR
includes 3D liquid crystal shutter glasses, a video-based interface to the
Amiga's NTSC video output OR a VCR, and a free 3D videotape you can view on
YOUR VCR. MegageM also has 80 3D video tape titles available now, with more to
come. With AmiVR you can not only view 3D stereoscopic graphics on your Amiga,
but you can record them to video tape (Toaster-compatible 3D video!) and view
them without being tied to an Amiga! Now you can really get the most from
VistaPro 3.0's stereo 3D features, Imagine, Animatrix Modeler, & other Amiga 3D
modeling and rendering software with stereoscopic capabilities.
AmiVR/1 has 1 set of glasses and 1 free tape. AmiVR/2 has 2 sets of glasses
and 2 free tapes. Each comes with an attractive plastic padded carry case.
Both come with a software disk of 3D games, viewable images, a developer's
'library', utilities, and instructions on using popular programs like ADPro,

How does the StereoPro relate to the AmiVR packages? Is AmiVR a
superset (meaning, everything that's in StereoPro plus …) or are they
totally different? Would it be possible to use my X-Specs with AmiVR (as I
assume I could with StereoPro)? Thanks …

AmiVR is a video interface, not a joystick Amiga interface. StereoPro is
almost indistinguishable hardware-wise from XSpecs by Haitex, and it is priced
lower than AmiVR and is (like XSpecs) tied to the Amiga joystick port. AmiVR
is a separate product. What does it mean to 'use XSpecs with AmiVR' – sounds
redundant to me. They both do the same thing (on an Amiga), but yes, they'd
both work simultaneously if you wanted to do that. They are connected
differently so they don't interfere with one another. AmiVR requires no
software drivers at all. StereoPro and XSpecs need some little program
(sometimes part of the a special IFF viewer in the case of XSPecs) to cause the
glasses to oscillate. Ours is a bit different as once you set our glasses
oscillating with the supplied program you can simply view our images with any
IFF viewer and they are recordable to tape to view with AmiVR (which can
connect to an Amiga video output or a VCR output – and drive the glasses
directly in either case). VistaPro 3.0's stereo features work exactly
correctly – you makea left eye view and a right eye view and their 'merge'
capability interleaves them so the result is a single IFF which looks very
flickery without the glasses on and oscillating. If you leave an address I'll

See your EMail for my address – thanks! By "use X-Specs with AmiVR" (or
StereoPro) I meant: Will my current X-Specs be able to plug into the
StereoPro and/or AmiVR interface (assuming the X-Specs and StereoPro
interfaces couldn't be plugged in simultaneously as there's only 1 joyport
2) to give me a second pair of glasses, or are the systems incompatible?
Depending on what the product info says, I'd like to get into AmiVR and
the 3D videotapes but I'd also like to use the specs I already have if I
can. Thanks …

PLease tell me that the stereo systems (3D) will work on PAL
Amigas/TV/VCR's.
I notice that your new version of FractalPro does support PAL TV….:-)

the StereoPro MAY work on PAL but I can't assure it. AmiVR MAY also but can't
assure that, either. Something I'll be looking at. For now they are
'intended' for NTSC. FractalPro 6.0 supports a great variety of graphics
modes, which on AmigaDos3.0 systems(A1200, A4000) are supported themselves by
Amiga drivers. Adapting to PAL is fairly straightforward in this environment –
just be sure the PAL monitor icon (driver) is in the Devs/monitors drawer and
PAL is supported sort of automatically. FractalPro gives you some appropriate
video- oriented image heights and aspect ratios which complement the needs of
the PAL user (e.g heights of 256, 296, 512, and 592) with aspect ratio
adjusted. I've done some testing of PAL using a multisync monitor. I was
happy to be able to integrate it in one program instead of having to create a
separate PAL version. Hope to have more certain answers for you on PAL 3D
equipment soon.

Thanks for the info ref PAL/3D vision "glasses". Sounds like they would be
a GREAT (and of course on their own) extra for something like the
OpalVision board. PLease do look into getting your 3D product PAL capable.
If you need a "PAL" tester I offer my services with my A2000/CBM 2620 card
and GVP 52m HD. Pretty basic these days but it is usefull. I have a Fedex
account so could pay for freight etc.

I may keep you in mind. I'd like to know from an unbiased 3rd party
just what works and what doesn't when using the 3D glasses on PAL
systems. It may just work transparently, but I haven't tried it.
Love to hear from anyone using XSpecs3D on PAL Amigas.
