#VP3 Tips

John,
Thanks for the info re Session-DEM,it works great, AND simplifies my
Startup.Scr!
To All, if you missed it,
In VP3, to set up a complete starting environment, even including things that
STARTUP.SCR _can't_ set up, set up VP3 as you want it to be at startup (trees,
clouds, palette lock, graphics modes, anything and everything else…), but
with the usual empty landscape (or whatever landscape you always want to start
up using). Then select Save/Session DEM. Best place to put it is in your basic
VP directory, and the obvious name is STARTUP.DEM Then modify your STARTUP.SCR
– all you'll need in there is the series of DefaulDir commands for your
particular Directory Structure, followed by 'LoadDEM STARTUP.DEM' (or whatever
name you've given it). This LoadDEM will then set everything else!
A tip from me…
When creating a River or a Lake, VP draws in where it's going to put the
River/Lake, and then puts up a box asking if this is OK for you. But the place
it puts this box is usually _right_ over where it's just put the River/Lake, so
you _can't_ see it to check it's OK! Actually, the place VP puts the
confirmatory box is the current Mouse Position, which is usually where you've
just clicked to create the River/Lake. So all you have to do when creating is
to click on the point you want your River/Lake, then DON'T release the Mouse
button, drag the mouse until you're clear of the landscape, and _then_ you can
release it. Hey presto – confirmation box _and_ you can see what it's asking
you to confirm!
Hope this all helps,
RAC
Richard,
It's even simpler than that: the River/Lake confirmation dialogue box can be
moved simply clicking any where else on the screen once it appears. The box
will move to the new location letting you know that that it must be answered.
John.
