Hi- Anybody have a good way to make realistic ocean water in 3D Studio? What settings on what materials, and what to map them on to? I saw one guy get OK results with a GIF map of a cloudy sky mapped onto a wavy surface. Any other ways to do it? Al Woo dub Media

I've been mapping a surface with a wavy bump map, while using auto-reflect to bring in some natural-looking sky highlights from a true environment (a sky mapped to the inside of a half-globe). This acts something like a real ocean, even in an animation. Also, check out the water.sxp from the Yost Group IPAS Boutique. Neat stuff… -Alan Iglesias

I've been doing something similar, mainly using bump maps with some of the WAVES pxp. What I have not been able to manage is some method of going in or out of the water. The change is very abrupt. I have tried using a fade in-out with video post but it still looks dodgy. Martin Bowring
