I finally got it and it worked with only about 5 minutes of messing
around. I already had a System 7 AMAX partition, so it was a snap. All I
had to do was go to the Monitors control panel and turn on the color.
This is great. I have the Workbench, ProWrite, AP, PCTask, and Emplant
emulation all running simultanously! This product is great and I can
personall attest to it's functionality. BTW, I have already run a couple
of color Quicktime Anims.
My system configuration.
Emplant
GVP SCSI+RAM w/2MB
PP&S 28Mhz 040
88MB Syquest
500MB various HD's
And a Retina on the way!

I wonder if there are any Mac PD utilities that can do a benchmark on
speed. I'd be real curious as to what your '040 powered Amiga is
comparable to in Mac mode.
On my Mac I have EKG, but it's commercial.

There is a PD program called Speedometer, version 3.1 is latest. It does full
benchmarking and is available in the Mac forums.
Yes, I have done so. I am just below or above the performance of a Quadra
700 depending on what I have set for the number of FPS the screen is
updated. I set it to 60FPS for Quicktime animations and they run VERY
smooth, but I suffer a performance hit in CPU capability. I slow it to
12-20FPS and I surpass the power of a Quadra 700. I use the PD utility
Speedometer.

Were these speed results done while multi-tasking the Emplant with stuff
running under AmigaDOS, or was the Emplant getting all the CPU time?
If the former, then I will DEFINITELY be upgrading to the Emplant when I
go for the Toaster4000!

The speed results depend on what you give for the refresh rate. 20FPS has
no noticable difference than a real MAC. I up it to 30 or 60 FPS when
running Quicktime movies for smoothness. I got better than Quadra 700
results with my A2000 w 28Mhz 040 and Emplant using a refresh rate of
12FPS.
And yes, all while multitasking with the Amiga OS.

I've been monitoring the rumors for the Emplant board. I take it you now
have one. I have a couple of questions.
1. What kind of color display does it support?
2. What kind of MFLOPS and MIPS are you getting?
3. Does it support SCSI-2?
4. Does it support Mac CD-ROM and other removable media devices?
5. Does it fully support System 7?
6. Can you run Quick-Time anims?
7. When running Emplant, is there a way of transfering data over to the
Amiga partition without going to floppy disk?
On AUTOPILOT over Chicago…
1) 16 colors on ECS machines, 256 on AGA, and 24bit on supported 24bit
boards.
2) Haven't tested yet
3) No, regular MAC SCSI.
4) Yes, I am running System 7 now.
5) No question?
6) Yes, quite well.
7) Not yet, in the works.

A Quadra 700 is what? An 040 running at 25 Mhz? The 4000 is what speed
040 again? I forget these little things! 8)
Actually, can you, in some way, measure the screen redraw? That is what I
fear will suffer the most, since the Mac has never had a decent screen
redraw rate without throwing another 2K or more for a Quickdraw
accelerator board!

The screen refresh can be set anywhere from 6FPS up to 60FPS. I find
20FPS adequate.
