#need driver for CDROM

I just purchased from Toyota the 1.6 driver and it does not seem to work
at all. It does not even put up an icon. I am sure that everything is
set correctly (the apple 300 worked with the enclosed driver until it
decided not to work any longer). Toshiba no longer has the 1.5.2 driver
and NO ONE (I have called many places ) can help. It sort of looks like I
will never be able to get this to work unless someone has an old driver
they can sell me.
What machine are you using>???? Theis is important because on my A4000 with the
Toshiba 3401 drive I have to shut the caches off whenever I insert or remove a
CD (I too have 1.6 BTW 1.52 is WORSE you have to leave the cahces off when
working with the CD as well under 1.52, at least you can turn them on after the
CD's been recognized under 1.6). Also there is another known problem with at
least one Voyager CD-Rom, "The Residents Freak Show", it doesn't work with the
Toshiba CD-rom drivers at all, even on a real Mac!!(I called thier "tech
support" and they told me it was a mastering goof-up).

I have a 3000 and AMax1V. How can I shut the caches off? The memory
gauge says the cache is permanently on? This is really puzzling to me as
obviously other persons have gotten these drivers to work. I do not get
an icon when the machine is rebooted and it just does not recognize the
SCSI cd rom drive but other drivers do (although they still do not
recognize the cds themselves it seems).
Oh I see the problem, unfortunately my solution was based on the Emplant not
the AMAXIV (as a matter of fact the latest Emplant software doesn't even need
to shut down the caches on the A3000/30), the only others I've heard from also
had Emplants, the only other possible solution I could suggest is CD-Rom
Toolkit, but I don't know for sure if that'l work with AmaxIV. Sorry.

from the shell issue the CPU command… that will return the current
status of the inst and data caches… then you can use the same command to
turn them on/off:
cpu [no]datacache [no]instcache
