Howdy Folks, I've a question for ye all. Can a CBM 1084S Monitor be used as a VGA monitor for a IBM/Clone? Thanx folks.

The 1084S will only work in CGA modes from what I remember. It can't handle the scan rate of VGA or SVGA, it only goes to 15.something KHz., I believe that VGA uses 31 KHz. scan rate. That is why hi-res screens are interlaced on the older Amigas. Jim R. Ollick Using AP from Bergenfield, NJ

Tyhanx for the info James, I was HOPING to use my 1084S for double duty with a 486-66DX2, I guess I'll have to go for a Extra Monitor. Thanx again

Can a CBM1084S be used for a VGA monitor? Hi there Peter, I think you are a little lost dropping this message into the CDTV/CD32 message base, but I'll answer your question. The simple answer is no, because the 1084s only accepts one input frequency and as such is not compatible with the IBM/CLONE output (different frequency) You may be able to get a converter though. Hope I could be of assistance… STARFIRE cruising the stratosphere MOTOROLA 040 and AUTOPILOT ENGAGED!
