I think I may want your Firecracker board for my A2000. I know alot of
the s/w I have will support its display, but I'm wondering if it will work
with my current monitor. I'd much rather be able to get more mileage out
of my system without having to upgrade my monitor. More colors would be
fine, the 2000s display isn't fast enough to support any higher res anyway
IMHO.
Does the Firecracker24 work on Non multi-synch monitors ? The monitor I
use is actually a multi-synch I think, but I use it coming out of the
regular Amiga RGB port. Then my cable splits to the seperate R G B and
synch, for input to my monitor. Its actually a nice flicker free Long
Persistance monitor that came from an old workstation class machine. Seems
to handle all the normal Amiga resolutions.
Does this sound like it will work with the Firecracker? :^) Too make a
long story short :^)

Yes the firecracker drives standard amiga type NTSC rgb monitors. Your's with
the long persistance phosphers is just what you need to make an interlaced
display useable. Your cable will work directly on the FC output. In case you
aren't aware, the FC has a connector and cable that connects to the normal
Amiga monitor output. This allows the workbench screen to share the display
with the FC's 24bit display. You can try it out and send it back if you don't
like it

I guess I forgot to ask if it requires the video slot, I got a Toaster.

No the FC24 does not use the video slot. But doesn't the Toaster have a 24bit
framebuffer ? I'm not trying to talk you out of it but this board will not give
you a 16.8 million color workbench or even a 256 color workbench screen. The
workbench screen is strictly passthru. It does display IFF's and comes with a
paint program but so does the Toaster. You are right though there are a few
applications that can use it directly.
