#Downloads are bad
8 messages in this thread
This morning I DL'd several files totalling nearly 1 Meg and most are giving a
"bad CRC" message when I attempt to unzip them.
Is there anything wrong with the Libraries?

Not that I'm aware of; what files did you download?

ADOT.ZIP, GRID.ZIP, KBDTRF.ZIP, VIEWS.ZIP, LTUTIL.ZIP, BLDSV.ZIP, DFV.ZIP,
METALS.ZIP
I also downloaded 6 other files that came thru OK. I have used my setup here
without incident for quite a while, so I first suspected CIS. I will try DLing
them again (It's only money <g>) later today. If I continue to have problems,
I will begin to diagnose my end of things. Thanks.
I downloaded some of the files you named, and was able to uncompress them and
look at them without a problem. Please let me know what you find out.
i also had troulble with adot.zip, TWICE…once last month when the prob was
noted and powers that be were kind enough to credit my account for the trouble.
then it happened again two weeks ago wit ADOT.ZIP! Ok… my two and 1/2 cents.
William,
I just downloaded ADOT.ZIP in 16 seconds and it unzipped just fine. Also the
transfer came through with no errors and only one little hardware glitch that
was immediately corrected (you can see it happen in the byte display counter).
Guess that's why it took 16 seconds……<g>.
The more I see of this medium, the more I'm convinced that a good hardware
error correction modem is essential. The pricing is such that they are now
cheap, and the benefits derived so far outweigh the cost that I personally deem
it a given necessity (along with a program that automates your online time as
much as possible). Sounds like I'm on a personal crusade to get everyone
cranked up to 14,400 or at least 9600 baud…….<grin>.
I've got a 14.4 new, but even with it, I have probably been getting about 50%
of the downloads from this forum as incorrect CRC check (or something). I've
yet to have a problem in another forum, but I have also tried to download more
from here. My computer at work has the same modem, and also has the same
problems. The modem is Digicom DSI connection 14.4+fax with mnp error
correction. Any suggestions? I can't remember all of the files, but I will
try to find out what they were.

I'm finally back at the office after a week on the road. I will try DL'ing the
troublesome files again later this week. I'll keep you posted on my results.
Thanks for looking into it.
