I was glancing through an article, "25 Breakthrough That Are Changing The Way
We Live And Work.", in U.S. News & World Report, May 2, 1994 issue, when on
the last page (60) I saw a picture of a fair haired gentleman at a computer
with his wrong hand on the wrong side of the keyboard resting on the wrong keys
intently staring at an image on the screen. The Image was of a helicopter
hovering over a lake. The caption reads, "Whirling. Animator uses 3D Studio at
Sony Pictures."
Now, after seeing 3D Studio mentioned I looked more closely at the picture and
in the bottom right hand corner is a signature that starts "M Fost…", the
rest is cut off.
I'm just wondering, is this you, or is that your image? If so congrats.

How curious! That wasn't me, but the animation is mine <g>. I did a couple of
projects for Sony Pictures Imageworks and I remember taking that animation (a
personal project) over to Sony to show it off while I was working on one of the
projects. I must've left it on a PC's hardisk over there <g>.
Rather flattering that they chose that animation to have on their screens
versus something they had worked on 🙂

I don't know if this is the case or not, but this might be a copyright
infringment. With you as the victim. They are, as you say, using one of your
images without your permission.
I don't want to stir up anything, but I hate it when artists are taken
advantage of.

who knows what the laws are regarding copyright these days – credit is mostly
what I like to receive. Anyway, I feel more flattered than infringed upon, so
I'll just leave it at that 🙂
