>I just got one of those 40MHz 040s from GVP for my 4000….It renders >between 60% & 200% faster!!!! How much did it cost? I am thinking about getting one for my A3000 but don't know whether to get the RCS 28 mhz ($800) or the GVP 40 mhz ($????). <<< Tony D. Tracer >>> (Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)

I got GVP 40MHz 040 w/ 4MB RAM from Safe Harbor for $1550. (I haven't seen the RCS unit, but I heard they just dropped their price…) Keep On Toastin' Erik Flom – ELF Works 3D Construction Co.

That is a good price for the 040 but still a bit expensive for me right now. Locally they are about $1600. I will probably get a loan soon since I REALLY need the speed!!! Don't we all. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>> (Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)

Well, I've got a beautiful A3000/28MHz-040/16MB/Toaster2000-3.1 I was going to put up for sale this weekend……….. I don't think anyone would give me the $3K I want for it though…….. As for your needs – maybe the 060 board will be out soon….? Keep On Toastin' Erik Flom – ELF Works 3D Construction Co.

I just finished a 700 frame anim in med res. ….. at this rate I might not need a PAR 'til summer The move to California is only three more weeks and we've started counting down the days. I just about finished with my second demo tape. Five more minutes of toaster animations.

I _still_ don't see how you can get acceptable stuff out of MedRes Toaster anims…..All of my stuff has too many deltas, and I _can't_ work around that problem, or my clients will get huffy. So, where you moving from and to? Going to work for seeQuest? :^) Keep On Toastin' Erik Flom – ELF Works 3D Construction Co.

I'm leaving Orlando at the end of the month to move to Monterey, Cal.. Were going to take about 3 weeks to drive on out. While out there I'm going to be superrenderingdad while my wife is getting her MBA at the Naval Post Graduate school in Monterey. The funny (or not so funny)thing is three weeks after I get out there I have to fly back to Florida with all my computer stuff so I can go a conference in Cocoa to sale animations. A safety tip:don't look at the sun during the eclipse on tuesday. Later Tony Butterfield

Sorry it took so long for me to read your message…..have been swamped. Sounds like you should have a chance to see some of the country during your three weeks move. Sounds fun. P.S. Didn't have to worry about going blind during the eclipse. We were fogged in…:^( Keep On Toastin' Erik Flom – ELF Works 3D Construction Co.

Starting May 25:Orlando>Clearwater>Panama City>Birmingham>Little Rock>Dallas>Amarillo>Albuquerque>Grand Canyon>San Diego>L.A.>Monterey. Latter,Tony

'Starting May 25:Orlando->…>Monterey' (Watch your newspaper for continuing coverage of the 1994 Butterfield in North American tour! :^) As for the fogginess…….at least Monterey isn't as densely populated….:^) (It seems to burn off by 10-noon anyway.) >ELF,have you got the medium res to work for you yet? Tony, I think you sent your message to the wrong person. Hopefully he will see it and reply to you. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>> (Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)

Ya , wrong address, sorry. But while your on the line …. I have found that I can playback longer animations in medium res. than in low res. I can only get about 160-200 frames in low res. and I can get about 700-or more in medium res. all this with just the normal 18 mb of ram. Try it out… I looking for more feedback. ***sidenote , you can't have to many deltas for medium res. or the anim will crash.!

>I have found that I can playback longer animations in medium res. than in >low res. I only have a VT 2000 and a A3000 so I couldn't playback any VT anims, but I do have a PAR board. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>> (Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)
