JP. Soft edged light sources are acheived with the lighting texture called Softedge. SImply ready the texture doc associated to the texture and I am sure you will get the hang of it. As for the DXF deal, the file format of 3DS is not doucmented in the docs we have from Autodesk. While we are happy to know that you have gotten the software, we still have a limited ensight to what Autodesk is doing with their file format. If you have some insight please let us know. As for the new stuff. Its all over the place, we did not mark each new item as NEW STUFF, you might try out constraints, and freeze and the 100 new textures and the new states command and the new spline editor and the new cut copy and paste in the Action and the Clone in the stage, meanwhile back in the detail editor take a look at bones and just for the heck of it try putting a few hundred textures on a single object…. Well you get the point. If you have purchased Imagine for only what it would do more than 3DS, we are happy with that but you might being fooling yourself. Our goal has never been to replace the $3000.00 purchase you made with 3DS we think that IMagine can enhance you work I might also suggest that the Imagine detail editor is a very rich playground, as long as you spent the money, why dont you give it a try. Mike

Mike, My postman finally found my Imagine 3.0, lost since Friday! Naturally, whatever else I might need to do has immediately been shelved. The manual looks great, but by now I just figure everything out by pointing and clicking. Deform Tool works really well, I just created some stuff in Forms and used Deform Tool to add more detail. The renderer seems a little faster, no? DXF i/o works fine for me between 3DS and Imagine, and I can import from Animation:Master. I have a lot of spline models that I can import as DXF and start using the Bones feature on now. Imagine 3.0 seems to run fine for me now with the /noxms switch and emm386 loaded, did anything change there? I have Dos 6.2. At least now I can use one basic boot setup. Okay, wishlist time: (you knew it couldn't be this easy) tablet support: My Wacom has a dos mouse driver that sort of works with Imagine, until a requester is put up on screen, then the program freezes. I don't have this problem with any other dos program. keyboard support and scroll arrows in requesters: Not a big thing, but I'd like to have up/down arrows on scrolling list boxes, and to be able to tab to the okay or cancel buttons on a requester. Oh, and did I say thanks for keeping Imagine such a great deal? Andrew.

Peter, as much as I hate to say this, due to Mr. Nixon passing away the mail will be delayed another day due to the post office not working, can you beleive that, of course we planned this event just to drag the whole mess out for a while. grins Mike

It's pretty strange having a Holiday for Nixon after Watergate.

;-), I had no idea what was going on today. Saw a pretty young lass while out at lunch and smiled. She asked me if I knew what holiday it was that made her bank be closed. I had NO IDEA. Hope I get 3.0 soon, I'm going Bonkers.

Ha! isn't that the way. Even worse, to know the PO has the box somewhere on a shelf, but they didn't know where. I think you'll be happy with the new stuff. Andrew.

Yup got the new IM, and the DCTV problem is fixed. Also the Multi Sequencer seems to run FASTER.

Peter, I just checked mine out and you're right. It works. But check this out. I wanted to run just a short test so I selected 5 frames from an Imagine directory with 200 frames. The frame count thingy did NOT reflect the 5 frames I selected, but said 1-200, the number of frames in the source directory. When I ran the list IM just kept on going after 5 frames reprocessing frame 5 over and over to generate 6, 7, 8, etc.! A buglet? See if this happens to you. …AutoPilot Engaged… -Paul-

I've gotten the same thing where the #'s don't match up but the Frames I selected worked fine.

I have not been able to import any DXF files from 3D Studio. All I get is an axis without any mesh? What am I doing wrong?

Andrey The object has come in real small. just scale it up a bunch and it will be there. Mike

> The object has come in real small. just scale it up a bunch and it > will be there. It's not. I tried using Find Requestor and it showed that there is an object without name and with 0 faces, 0 edges, 0 points. I tried to scale the axis up but no luck. What am I doing wrong?

What will be on the fix disk and when are you going to send it out?
