As just reported by Commodore Germany, Commodore is _sold_ to a yet
unknown big japanese company. They claim to keep the Amiga-line intact and
even announce the availability of the A4000T and severeal C=-monitors.
Accordigng to C= GER the subsidaries in UK, Skandinavia, Germany, Holland
and Italy continue to exist.
Nevertheless, if this _is_ a rumor it is one brouught up by C= itself. I
talked to people there directly.

I just wanted to mention that I have heard exactly the same information. I
understand that Commo germany would end up as Head Office for the whole
european operation with Italy, England & Scandinavia reporting to frankfurt.
I have had a lot of contact with many sources who have spoken directly to Commo
today.
Exactly who it is who is investing is not yet known. The name "Nintendo" has
been mentioned, but I favour someone from completly outside the Computer
Industry (but maybe from the Electronics sector ??)

If true, don't you think that Gould's position as a creditor will allow
him the leverage to immediately be placed on the board of directors of any
purchasing company?
That must not be so. My understanding is that the appointed liquidator has to
get the best deal in the interests of the creditors (incl. Mr. Gould). End of
story !

But since Gould is in the position of a creditor, he will have the ability
to reduce the debt owed him in exchange for a new interest in any company
(new or existing) that winds up with the other assets.
I know. This is exactly what C= Frankfurt was telling to _everybody_. It's
a pitty that I was not able to reach Alwin Stumpf (GM C= Germany) today,
but I will continue to try tomorrow. Dunno if this will change anything,
though.
Some more stuff I heard from C=: Development will go on with at least 25
dedicated, well-known people. It will continue to exist in West Cehster,
but long-term plans are to handle development in UK.
The facilities in the Philipines could be used by "the buyer" very soon,
as these are not directly connected to CIL/CEL. There is one company
putting pressure on the Philipine's facilities which could be paid out
very quickly.
Note: This is information which is currently spread by C= Germany. _I_
_personally_ do not believe it, but it I would be happy to be convinced
otherwise. Currently C= has said _nothing_ in respect to this news which
could be verified via other sources.

I deliberately didi no try to speak to Mr. Stumpf today. After all he has a lot
more important things to do then to chat to me.
In any case as I or GTI cannot influence the decisions at Commo in the smallest
degree and as i do not work for the press like you Ottmar there would have been
little point.
I was going to hold back the news from the Forum until I saw that you had
already mentioned the developments. Does hat mean that mr. Stumpf told you
officially or off the record ?. A number of fellow Amiga-Dealers i know spoke
to him personally and came away with the same information. I see no reason to
doubt the information that he has been giving – but is it not up to the
liquidator to decide what gets sold to whom ? Or has that already been decided
(as i think) before Friday and the buyer just wanted to avoid having to buy
either th US Operation or get saddled with the overall debts. (It's the buyers
right to bid for the parts of the company he wants at the price he is prepared
to pay – he liquidator must only be convinced that the offer is in the best
interest of the creditors).
I guess a statement MUST be issued in the US today to give credence to the
comments made by C= Germany. I can understand that Mr. Stumpf said something as
our lines were hot today with dealers wanting to know what was happening, but
this thing has to be co-ordinated !!
I had heard that an official press statement was to be made by c=Germany this
afternoon but if it was made it never got through to me !
Mr. Stumpf has always been honest in giving information in the past – I would
certainly tend to believe him again now – we jsut need a small confirmaton
either from the Buyer (in Jap-land) or the Seller (the liquidator) !

left CBM and was working for Mitsui, as well as another guy from CBM whose name

No, no more info. I just knew how involved Mitsui was with C=.
We've heard mention of the name "ACER" in connection with C= recently.

But ACER is not a "big asian company". And no, it is not Sony, as
confirmed by C= Germany.
Please don't start speculating about this topics. Post if someone has
_informations_. _This_ is what we need nowadays.
