#VT graphics help
13 messages in this thread
Hello, Pardon my ignorance, but perhaps somebody can help or direct me to help
with Video toaster/cross platform graphics questions…
At work we've got an Amiga 2500 running VT 2.0. Only stuff in it is the
toaster and DPIV (so far…financial constraints). On the IBM side, we've got
a modem and a scanner. I've had limited success with cross-dos getting scanned
images into the Amiga. Have been using Graphics Workshop to convert pcx to iff,
after using the scanner software to convert scan to pcx.
We would like to be able to take scanned images into the toaster and get pxcx
files from stuff grabbed with the toaster.
Where should I learn about the different iff file types, what will work where,
etc.? For file conversion, can this be done with shareware stuff, or would we
be wasting our time by not getting AD PRO or IMAGE F/X? What's the best way to
go?
Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

I have not worked with a setup like yours but my suggestion would be to go to
ImageFX and ADPRO. They just really make life easier.

Lee, you will definitely want to get yourself ImageFX and the addon ToasterFX
package. Together you'll be able to translate the file formats you need from
the PC and ToasterFX will handle all the Amiga-Toaster translations for you.
Best of all…ToasterFX will allow you to paint directly on the Toaster's
composite display!!
I heard from the ToasterFX people that Creative Computers might have a good
bundle deal on these when purchased together. I'm not 100% sure about this
however.

Lee,
if your budget is really tight, you may want to keep ImageMaster in mind. For
$80 street price, it does image processing, correction; special effects (tons
of them); morphing; 24-bit painting (using any Amiga mode for interim display);
file translation to/from 22 formats including TIFF, Targa, PCX, JPEG, Toaster
framestore… I'm sure you could convince your boss to spend under a hundre
bucks to get all these benefits.
Blaq!
Devware has a special on Imagemaster R/T for $72.95, I just got their
flyer yesterday.
Thats where I ordered it from… (Still haven't got it though!!!!, tha wait is
painfull!)

Hope ye get yer software soon. Tis Wondermous.
IS Wondermous what is called a "morph"? <G>… It HAS been A long time since
ordered, I reckon!
Morphing is but a small piece of the fun with IM R/T
Guess what! Just got it! Going to start playing NOW! (Had to see what news
there was from last nights CO..)
-Tom-
Very Nice, hopefuly later today when the mail comes I'll be able to say
the same about Imagine 3.0 Have a Ball with IM R/T!!!!
Tell me How much improved from 2.0 it is! (did a simple morph, last night.. man
there is *alot* to learn!)
-Tom-
Still no Imagine here so nothing to report. Morphing is Cool eh? I love
Warp Morphs Most. Grab a picture of a relative and DESTROY it over time,
make a ping ponging animation of this and dub to tape then show the tape
at the next Family Gathering. I do this all the Time to Howls of
Laughter.
