I have a complaint that leads to a wish. Before I upgraded to 3DS R3 from 2.01 I was able to shell out to AniPro 1.3 WITHOUT having to limit my mem parameters thru 386cfig! Could this be changed back please?!

"in 2.01 I was able to shell out to AniPro 1.3 WITHOUT having to limit my mem parameters thru 386cfig" This is on the wishlist – we're as unhappy as you are about this, but apparently this is a Phar Lap issue. I'm not sure if it's meant to be an improvement (meaning, they're not going to fix this for future Phar Lap versions) or that they can get it back to the old way. Nik

>>glad to know im not the only complainer!<< not in the least, my son! if the .txt file doesn't help what I do is to have 2 or even 3 batch files that start 3ds. One I use if I'm going to do a *lot* of shelling, i.e. to ani and/or acad r12. this bat file i call 3dsbig.bat, and i leave about 3 megs of ram free, plus boucoup conv. mem, which ani likes. The next I call 3dsmid, for shelling to ani only, leaving about 1 meg free. this is good for 8 bit mapping. finally one bat file that grabs all memory, everywhere, for overnight and final rendering. Phar lap says there is no setting that will make simms in your basement, I then, angrily, sugessted that this be on the wish list. They escorted me out of the building. This should help, as when I was at autodesk Jonas and I decided that this was the way to go, but read the latest, I've been gone a couple month. —————————————beak

Will, We are aware of this, something happened when we upgraded to the new version of phar lap in release 3. Download 3dshel.txt for the complete story and work-around. -Brian
