David, << Smacker and NIC.. >> You'll see a different story with smacker. I just had a call from canada. A developer smacked a 64 meg flic file down to 10 megs. He loved the play back smoooothness as well as the minimum losslessnes in the lossy compression. FWIW. jonas[adesk]

jonas: Isn't "losslessness" a great word? ->Jeff P.S. Thanks for the testimonial – who was it? We've sold more copies in Canada than in the US so far.

Jeff, << smacker.. >> Do you wish to comment on pg 4 of the Smacker manual stating that the smacked file already supports interleaved sound but doesn't support it yet? jonas[adesk]

jonas: Did you like that? <grin> Actually there are undocumented switches to interleave sound (or any other data actually) into the frame data. So, as the manual says, Smacker supports interleaved sound, it just doesn't play it. But I do plead guilty to writing that sentence, am I going to be caned? I've always wanted to be on Geraldo. We found our sound solution however, and will release it very shortly. Sound actually sucks quite a bit – the sound library we are going to use has 50 different drivers! It's out of control. ->Jeff

I really liked finding that sentence and look forward to…. << We found our sound solution however, and will release it very shortly.
