#External CD-Roms

I am currently in the market for an external CD-Rom drive, and wanted to
check the situation with everyone here. I have seen a couple of Apple
drives, the CD300 and the Power-CD, advertised for less than L200. Are
these drives ok or should I look elsewhere. Any opinions on which is the
best CD-Rom would be welcome.
I will be attaching it to an A500 with A590, MMR030 and 8M Fast, 1M Chip
Ram. For software I am currently using the PD drivers downloaded from the
libs here.

I'm using a CD300, with the ASIMWARE CDFS 2.2 File system, and IVS
Trumpcard pro and have no problems at all. The CD300 came from The
Computer Warehouse in Hatton Street, for L149 exc vat, and included a
cable, a mains lead and a SCSI terminator. I got no joy until I removed
all the terminating resistors from my other two hard drives, and
terminated the CDROM drive.

thanks for the reply, do you have a number for The Computer Warehouse, the
cheapest I've seen them for is L155+VAT, but they don't have any in stock.
Also, where did you purchase the Asimware software from, I'm using the PD
drivers, but might switch to the commercial ones when I buy my own drive.

I'm not at my desk at the moment, so I don't have the numbeer to hand, but if
you look in the directory under The Synthesizer Company, or TSC at 9, Hatton
Street, they should be able to help.
I bought the Asimware software in New York, but I believe a company called
Almathera systems will sell it to you in the U.K. They advertise in most mags.
