#A3000 Ext SCSI Only?

I've got a question someone out there might have the answer to or at least a confirmation that it's OK and works fine. I removed the last SCSI device from the internal SCSI bus in my 3000 leaving three externally mounted SCSI devices going to the SCSI connector on the back of the 3000. This was early this week. I've been noticing that strange things are happening during the boot process. I get random "DHx: not a DOS Disk", Task Held requesters when SetPatch is ran and perhaps a few other oddities. If the boot goes all the way through, most of the time everything is OK. Now I believe I have a prototype WD SCSI chip and I'll be ordering the non-proto version ASAP but does anyone else run their 3000 primarily off the external bus? I've got no room left internally. Have you tried terminating the internal scsi cable that now has no devices on it?

Have you ever gone through a period of time where just about everything you do seems to backfire in some way? Lately, I've been posting messages here and there for help only to discover the obvious answer soon after I post the message. This time, a friend clued me in on terminating the internal bus. Thankfully, I still had the three resistor packs from three years ago and installed them last night. The system has been working flawlessly ever since! What disturbs me the most is that I should KNOW this stuff! I fix electronic thingies for a living! 🙂 I need a double cappucino to kickstart my brain again! 🙂 Thanks for your reply. Daniel J.
