#There's a light ?

Okay guys, I've got what you can call an email flood here.
Sorry if I cannot respond to you personnaly, I will however post the last news
from TODAY,
04 May 1994. 21H30 CET.
Well Peter Kittel is not working at commodore currently but don't panic, he
hasn't been fired, he is just having some vacation and is quite busy because he
just bought a new car.
I'm talking about him because I know that all of you MUST know who Peter Kittel
is. Maybe this will give more credibility to what I post, since some people are
still sceptic (I don't blame them). Well Peter is not working currently but he
is phoning every day to stay tuned. He came to the office on Monday, because
his boss asked him to call most of the german develloppers to give them the
information I gave you the same day. So, when you will read this, I think that
many others will be able to confirm my statements.
Now, you can trust in this.
So, I called Peter home tonight and asked him for the latest infos.
Well, things haven't changed much. But It is now definitly done, Commodore has
been bought by a big asian company whose name is still unknown.
The Amiga product line in its entire range will be maintained. Confirmed.
Commodore will not become a console maker, the CD32, though, as part of the
line will still be produced and supported.
No informations about Mehdi Ali and Irvin Gould. Are they still there ? Both of
them held about 50 % of the Commodore shares and therefore, an agreement must
have been reached with them.
Peter doesn't know who is the buyer, honnestly. He doesn't even have clues.
Alwin Stumpf didn't tell anything, he just said that thing about the "big
asian investor, something of the size of Sony (this is NOT a clue).
To americans : It is very doubtful that Commodore will stop its activities in
the USA. All developpment comes from there. There are about 25 people left in
West chester, many have been laid off. It is quite possible though, that some
of them will come back when the storm is over.
Commodore is a huge nebulous organization, previously made of about 35 single
companies, of which 5, namely Commodore Electronics limited, Commodore Intl.,
C= France, C= Spain and C= Belgium have been liquidated. That leaves about 30
more to embarass you with their marketing strategy ;-). The development team
for hardware is a company, there are separate companies for almost everything
at commodore, even the coffee brewing team has its own structure ;-).
Don't you remember that message from Dave Haynie, where he told that he's been
working in 3 or 4 different companies since he's at CBM, without moving away
from his desk ?
That's why many of the speculations you read about Commodores future were FALSE
(-MB-). It's just impossible to make financial speculations about a company
where even the employees don't exactly know how it's run. This might be
annoying, but a last, it is also the reason why a good surprise was still
possible. Commodore is nothing to speculate with.
Commodore will not make any WRITTEN announcements, this includes the net, they
are only giving informations by phone, until every remaining details are
cleared up. You will have to live with that for the coming fortnight (10-12
days, to be more precise). Commodore US will not make any comments, they don't
even answer the phone anymore, as I was told (understandable but not very cool
for emotional people).
On the other hand, CBM germany is quite eager to give informations by phone, so
just call them, if you speak german.
What you just read is not a stolen information Commodore would have liked to
keep secret. You read this because Commodore wants you to. Take it as an oral
announcement.
please no flames or garbage.
OKay, that's all for now.

Ahhh….hemmm..cough..cough..anybody off that diet yet<g>
I kinda saved alot of words that somebody gotta eat.
Part 2
The ibmer and the mac close in for the kill, amigaman is in a daze
and can hardly stand on his feet. Is this the end of amigaman, his fans
turn away in disbelief some yeiling "ya bum I loss my money betting on
you, ibmer kick his but". Amigaman jumps to his feet in a last effort
reaches for his newtek gun…loads it with his new bullet..the flyer
but wait..there's something printed on the flyer-not ready until fall…
uhhh moans amigaman as he slumps to the floor. ibmer and the mac move
in for the kill greedily glazing at the chipset of amigaman which will
soon be theirs…but wait batfans..amigafans..what's this appearing
out of the dark alleyway right behind the fallen body of the amigaman
leaning over him he says"I'm from asia here to help you"…who is this
man from asia..as he steps into the light his face is revealed
…ladies and gentlemen it is no other than KATO! woooooaaaAAAHHH!
Part 3:
Live! LIVE!! L I V E!!!!! (as the madly cackling Asian in the stained
lab coat attaches the electrodes to the inert hulk of Amigaman) <RBG>

Well if that's part 3
then this is part 4-
The amiga awakens a little with the help of KATO from Asia, reaching
up he trys his best to speak hoping the asian would get the message
" Kato…you have to find the people who…cough..cough…
…first invented me…you must bring the original team back together..
…only they can bring out my real potential…HicUp…Buurp…."
Remember folks same batchannel…amigachannel
same amigatime…the never ending adventures of Amigaman.
Yeah. What ever happened to Dale Luck and Company, the guys who did the
original Intuition Code. How about full 3D implementation of AmigaDos so
the interface looks like a visual Mud. Put a setbox on a TV with built in
multitasking, Risc based A5000 Development systems, Toaster Flyer Video
editing systems for content,In the words of Brad Carvey" Think we could
sell any of these?"
Joe,
Just for the record:
R J Michaels (sp) did the 'original' Intuition code
Jim Macraz then took responsibility for it.
Peter Cherna was then given responsibility for it.
I don't know after that.
I seem to recall many of the original Amiga team hooking up with Trip
again for 3DO… expect to hear them changing jobs again RSN…
"hooking up with Trip again for 3DO" … what does the "again" mean? My memory
tells me that Trip had nothing to do with Amiga Corp as he was the president of
Electronic Arts at the time — about the same time frame I was at Synapse and
you were probably with Antic.
If it wasn't for Trip's support of the Amiga (e.g. Marble Madness, Deluxe
Paint) in the early days, would the Amiga be where it is today. (Rhetorical
question, ignoring current events. 🙂 I think it did take a special
relationship between EA and Amiga Corp to get things rolling… And Trip's
support of 3DO is further evidence to me that that link exist(ed)s.
Arnie dais that because a few of the original Amiga crew went to 3DO after
some deception by C= heads. Jim Sachs was one of these people to hook up
with 3DO…

Frederic,
Yes, some of the original Amiga people are at 3DO … what I questioned was the
use of the phrase "hooking up with Trip again". Trip Hawkins left Apple to
found Electronic Arts. Other than being one of the early supporters (and one
of the early deserters) of the Amiga, in his role at EA, he had nothing (that I
can remember) to do with Amiga Corp.
Of the original Amiga folks I can think of only 2 that I know are at 3DO … RJ
Mical and Dale Luck. There may be more, but I'm unaware of it (and I'm sure
I'll be "informed" if there are more <grin>).
Out of curiousity, I wonder where some of the others are, like Jay (after a
couple of kidney transplants, how is he doing there days?), Sassenrath, Bob
Pariseau, etc.
(Oh yeah, just thought of the obvious person from Amiga Corp who is now at 3DO
… he head guy, Dave Morse).
Did Needle do 3do?
I think Carl is still living on his mountain, but I haven't heard about
any post CDTV stuff he's done.

I just meant that Trip and EA were real early Amiga fans and supporters,
and they are all probably well acquainted.

Sorry, LIVE! has been dead for years now…
He's dead, Jim

Uh, I could have sworn that I just read Live! has been picked up and updated
within the last month. I know there are some units still at use at Nickelodeon
Studios, too.
