Does anyone here know how I can tell what rev buster I
have in my 4000 / 030.
Its one of the last ones made and I heard they had the
fixed busters but I want to make sure.

You have to take the cover off (may void your warranty) and see if it is
socketed.

I looked into the system and its socketed,
The number on top says 390537-09. I believe this means its rev -09.
The motherboard is a 4000 rev B. If I put a new Buster into this
socket will this solve all my problems or are there others lurking
behind the curtains?

If you put the -11 revision in it should work. Remember that the -09 was
only a problem with the A4091 controller from Commodore and DKB. From what
I understand, there are other SCSI-II controllers on the market that have
worked around the problem with the -09 Buster chip.
There aren't any other problems with the 4000 that I have encountered.
BTW I have a non-socketed -09 Buster and am not having any problems. I
have a PAR card and a TBC IV installed.

The Rev -09 was not the only problem with the A4091, James. When the rev -11
takes the place of the rev -09 Buster the CPU card is also supposed to be
replaced (3.0 to be upgraded to 3.1), for proper operation.

Wow, that's news to me. (3.1 CPU card).
Do you know if the GVP '040 card needs a -11 buster? I ask since I have a
non-socketed -09 in my 4000/040 and am thinking of purchasing a G-Force
040/40.

Yikes,
I just ordered a rev -11 buster to replace my rev -09 Buster, which
fortunatly is socketed. Along with that I have ordered a WARP
Engine 040/40. This I believe replaces the CPU card but I could
be just horribly wrong.
If it doesn't where in the world would you get a new cpu card, SMG?
And of course how much $$$$.

The Warp does replace the CPU card.

Shawn: I have been thinking about getting a Warp Engine 040/40 or the GVP
040, so would be interested in your opinion of the Warp Engine after you
have played with it for awhile.

I'd check with GVP on that one, the card itself and anything on it will most
likely work, but I don't know how well it'll talk to your expansion boards, BTW
how old is your A4000?

Oh well definately out of reach of warranty work *sigh*. BTW what did you think
of the CD32 Gamer mag?

It was good, however the games are in PAL, is there a way to get the
bottom of the screen? I use a 1084S monitor as a display device. All the
games on the CD make it a GREAT buy. If I could only see all of the
screen.
BTW, since you do warranty work on Amigas, can you do anything for my Rev.
9 Buster? My warranty ran out in February, but I guess that there was
little I could do before that as the place I bought it at went out of
business.
