Norm,
I've just got the Tandberg 3660 drive and installed it as an external SCSI
device off a GVP A1291 SCSI adaptor but am having problems getting
software to talk to it.
Can you provide me with the following info:
What are your jumper settings on the back?
What software and drivers are you using to backup to tape?

Kevin:
Make sure you have the SCSI bus terminated. I had problems with my tape
drive when the bus was not terminated. My drive does not have any place
to put the terminators so I installed it in the middle of the SCSI chain
and terminated the last drive, A CD ROM, in the chain.
Any SCSI snooper utility should be able to find the drive on the bus. On
my drive all Jumpers are marked. From left to right there are 6 jumpers.
The left two are test connectors, the next is a parity enable and the last
three are the SCSI ID. I left all jumpers open except jumper 5. Jumpers
4, 5 and 6 are the only ones that should be used depending on what SCSI ID
# you want to use.
I used an ICD Advantage 2000 SCSI controller in my A4000 with the Tape and
a CD ROM drive. No special drivers should be needed. I used QUARTERBACK
to back files up to the tape.

Thanks for the info, I am beginning to think it's the software thats at
fault and not the drive as I can see the drive on the SCSI chain (I had to
short the parity jumper to get my GVP SCSI I/F to see the drive) as well
as a CD-ROM, I've tried another drive however I couldn't get this one to
even be visible on the SCSI chain!
Thanks for the advice, I'll try another few avenues 😉
