Aircraft – Steve Johnson
8 messages in this thread
Several months ago I asked about 3-D aircraft models. Someone recommended a guy
in California (whose name escapes me). I contacted him, and purchased a model
of a Curtis Helldiver (modelled by his partner, Lt. Steve Johnson, USAF.) This
was a great model.
Problem is, I need new models, and Lt. Johnson has moved and his phone isn't
forwarded. I can't remember the name of the company or his partner in CA. Can
anyone fill me in?
Thanks!

Andy,
I recall that Sherwood Egbert (805/650-2542) did some aircraft
animations for Time-Life commercials. He might be a source. He's in Ventura,
CA.

You might want to try calling Keith Nette at Advanced Development Group in San
Diego. (619)492-9938. I was the lead modeler and animator for a project that
made 80, 1/72 scale aircraft in 3DS for the Army Air Defense Artillery School.
It included fighters, cargos, observer planes and helicopters for both sides of
the iron curtain for aircraft recognition. These models may still be tied up
under military contract, but it can't hurt to call Keith. Some of the models
may be confidential, but I don't think so. Gordon Fisher
In addition to Kevin's suggestion, there's a BBS just starting up called The
Rendering Plant — one of the main dude's is on the forum here: Jim Lammers
[Trinity] 73261,66. The BBS is called The Rendering Plant, and the number is
816-525-5614.
I haven't had a chance to get on yet, but they're supposed to have stuff from
all over the internet, among other places, and, I _think_ that some aircraft
meshes contracted by the military are available there.

Viewpoint has Aircraft Datasets, that is probably no surprise! But the
quantity and variety have increase quite abit in the last few months.
Give Casey Johnson a call at 800-DATASET to get one of our Catalogs and see if
he has what you need, or let me know what you are looking for and I will find
out.
