#Bernouilli Multi Disk150

Hi !
I need some info ! I'm planning to buy a Bernouilli transportable Multidisk 150
and It seems that there can be a problem to use it with the harware lock of
3DStudio in the parallel port. I have to plug the Bernouilli in the parrallel
port too. It will be easier that way to be compatible with other PC.
Anytbody got experience on that ? Tips will be appreciated, thank you.

It won't work. You can't have bidirectional devices attached to your parallel
port when the dongle is there. The Bernoulli though, is a SCSI device. It would
be much better (and a heck lot faster) to connect it to your SCSI controller.
You can still use it with the parallel adapter on those computers you don't
have SCSI. I have one of those and that's how I use it.

too much on SCSI interface. Can I ask some more questions on that ?
– Does the SCSI adapter come with the Bernouilli transportable150 or is it an
extra cost?
-I presume the parrallel port adapter will be an extra accessory. Did you know
the difference of speed between the two adapter?
-Is there a limitation on the number of times you can rewrite on the disk?
-Can we double space the disk?
-And finally did you try the 1000G shock resistance as they claim on the
publicity ? !!!

The Bernouli 150 is best used running off of a SCSI card, so there should be no
conflict with your HW lock. In fact, on my system, I have my CD ROM and
Bernouli daisy-chained off the same card. Not bad, 2 peripherals from the same
slot in the computer!

Not to burst your enthusiasm but Pierre is referring to the Transportable which
is designed to use the parrallel port. It is a different drive than the one you
use. I agree the best way to do it is with a SCSI card but the idea of the
Transportable is that you can hook it up to any system which has a parrallel
port. They are quite a bit slower but you can see the benefits.

I have the "Transportable". It is a SCSI device. It comes with a SCSI->Parallel
interface. I have it either connected straight to my SCSI port or to the
"parallel" controller in my little 16 pounds laptop.
The SCSI Parallel cable isn't as fast as the direct SCSI cable.
There are a couple of options but the typical "Transportable" configuration has
a SCSI->Parallel cable with power supplied through the cable with a breakout at
the Transportable side for power. At the parallel side however it is no longer
SCSI.
One option is to get a SCSI controller card and use the straight through cable.
A $200 or $300 option depending on whether you go with an 8 bit or 16 bit
contoller.
As you have your "Transportable" attached to your SCSI I can assume you are
using the straight through cable and have an AC power supply attached to the
Bernoulli.
As the question was about the parallel interface and hardware lock I can assume
he doesn't have or want a SCSI controller card and direct cable. However this
configuration gives the fastest through put which is where I agreed with Brian
as it is a direct SCSI connection.
